Dot-Blot Hybridization Method

2003
Nucleic acid hybridization is a very potent technique that can be used for the identification of DNA and RNA species with varying degree of homology and for the estimation of relative amounts of nucleic acid with known homolgy. In most cases, single-stranded (ss) (denatured) DNA or RNA is bound to a filter support (e.g., nitrocellulose) and incubated ...

Hybrid Finite Element Methods

SIAM Review, 1976
The purpose of this paper is to show how Lagrange multipliers can be used with finite elements to achieve a number of desirable properties in the underlying approximation. For elliptic boundary value problems, variational principles can be developed in which all boundary conditions are natural.

A hybrid laguerre method

BIT, 1983
A method combining iterations of the Laguerre and modified Laguerre root-finding methods was developed to correct a problem of the modified Laguerre method with “paired approximations”. Experimental results indicate that this hybrid Laguerre method successfully separates approximation pairs which inhibit convergence in the modified Laguerre method.

Hybrid Evolutionary Methods

2019
The limitations of single algorithm approaches lead to an attempt to hybridize or fuse multiple algorithms in the hope of removing the underlying limitations. In this chapter, the authors study the evolutionary algorithms for problem solving and try to use them in a unique manner so as to get a better performance.

Discretization schemes for hybrid methods

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2001
In this paper several original discretization strategies for hybrid finite element and integral methods are presented, using two-dimensional magnetostatics as an example. The hybrid formulations are first derived, all making use of equivalent sources.

Hybrid EM Methods.

1977
Abstract : This report summarizes a study of hybrid electrostatic-electromagnetic techniques for the calculation of SGEMP generated surface currents. Presented are results using the hybrid SQUID code, a technique to treat the currents in small struts, and a theory of nonreflective boundary conditions for electromagnetic SGEMP codes. (Author)

On Hybrid Semi-Iterative Methods

SIAM Journal on Numerical Analysis, 1989
The paper is devoted to the solution of large sparse systems of linear algebraic equations \(x=Tx+c\) via hybrid semi-iterative methods (SIM). The basic idea consists in transforming \(x=Tx+c\) into the equivalent linear system \(x=\tilde Tx+\tilde c\) by means of some complex polynomial \(t_ n(z)\) of degree n, with \(t_ n(1)=1\), and then applying ...

Hybrid Streamline Methods

SPE Asia Pacific Conference on Integrated Modelling for Asset Management, 1998
Abstract Streamline techniques offer the possibility of high speed reservoir simulation, but existing methods have some limitations for example, the pressure field is frequently derived using the assumption of incompressible flow.

Hybrid Methods for Hybrid Play: A Research Toolkit

2019
In this chapter we outline a research toolkit for the study of Internet-connected toys and their processual and situated affordances. We account for the complex and varied ways in which connected toys, children, adults and media infrastructures interrelate and interact to form systems of meaning and ensembles of technologies and agency, which ...

Hybrids of Method

2017
The emerging field of multiple species research has yet to be firmly or perfectly defined, but in seeking to test out some ideas, the foregoing three chapters explored the potential of several creative tools for approaching the difficult problem of accessing and understanding the interactions between humans and other species, looking at techniques that
