Photodeformable Spherical Hybrid Nanoparticles
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2006We report the first synthesis of spherical nanoparticles of a bridged polysilsesquioxane. The hard, brittle nanoparticles are prepared by a simple sol-gel polymerization without surfactants or templates. Particle size ranges from 50 to 100 nm. The organic component of these hybrid nanoparticles is composed of a photolabile coumarin dimer.

Plasmon hybridization in spherical nanoparticles
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2004We show that the plasmon resonances in single metallic nanoshells and multiple concentric metallic shell particles can be understood in terms of interaction between the bare plasmon modes of the individual surfaces of the metallic shells. The interaction of these elementary plasmons results in hybridized plasmons whose energy can be tuned over a wide ...

Organic and Inorganic Nanoparticle Hybrids
Langmuir, 2005Viruses are exemplary models in nanoassembly for their regular geometries, well characterized surface properties, and nanoscale dimensions. Armed with versatile tools aimed at site-directed mutagenesis to modify the virion's surface, conjugation chemistry for capsid coupling, and manipulation of nanoparticles, we have demonstrated nanoscale assembly of

Synthesis of Hybrid Multicomponent Disklike Nanoparticles
Nano Letters, 2008This manuscript describes the synthesis of a new generation of multicomponent disklike nanoparticles. In this work, we present for the first time, through the template-based sequential electrochemical deposition of metal/semiconductor/polymer segments, an innovative and effective method for preparing a wide range of metallic, semiconductor, and ...

Superhydrophobic Polymer/Nanoparticle Hybrids
2021Superhydrophobic coatings and surfaces are being one of the most interesting topics in the past few decades due to the use of the surfaces for wider industrial applications. Superhydrophobic surface property can be easily produced by generating micro-nano hierarchical surface morphology covered with a thin layer of low surface energy materials ...

Hybrid Nanoparticle Film Material
Journal of Nanoparticle Research, 2002A new hybrid material consisting of a nanoparticle film on a flexible, porous substrate is formed. The hybrid nanoparticle films are non-redispersable in solvents, yet remain porous and flexible. Visually, the hybrid films are highly reflective and metallic gold in appearance.
