Optimization of hybrid systems
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2006An overview of dynamic optimization problems with hybrid systems embedded is presented. The control parameterization approach is examined in detail, where the possibility of mode switching within the hybrid system causes nonsmoothness in the Master problem, thus invalidating gradient based solvers.

Optimizing hybrid transactional memory
Proceedings of the twenty-third annual ACM symposium on Parallelism in algorithms and architectures, 2011Transactional memory (TM) is a speculative shared-memory synchronization mechanism used to speed up concurrent programs. Most current TM implementations are software-based (STM) and incur noticeable overheads for each transactional memory access. Hardware TM proposals (HTM) address this issue but typically suffer from other restrictions such as limits ...

Optimal edge-preserving hybrid filters
IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 1994Based on the least mean square error criterion at the edge position, a new algorithm is presented to obtain a class of optimal edge-preserving hybrid filters that include the Lee (1980) additive filter and the gradient inverse weighted filter. As a result, we show that the gain of the Lee additive filter is not optimal and derive the optimal form of ...

Hybrid Optimization Algorithms and Hybrid Response Surfaces
2014In this paper we will present some hybrid methodologies applied tooptimization of complex systems. The paper is divided in two parts. The first part presents several automatic switching concepts among constituent optimizers in hybrid optimization, where different heuristic and deterministic techniques are combined to speed up the optimization task.

Hybrid optimization scheme for time-optimal control
Proceedings of the 2001 American Control Conference. (Cat. No.01CH37148), 2001This paper applies multiple methods of solving general optimization problems to a time-optimal control problem. By applying both constrained optimization and linear programming techniques to a particular problem, the benefits and drawbacks of each method can be easily described.

Hybrid Seeker Optimization Algorithm for Global Optimization
Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences, 2013Swarm intelligence algorithms have been succesfully applied to hard optimization problems. Seeker optimization algorithm is one of the latest members of that class of metaheuristics and it has not yet been thorougly researched. Since the early versions of this algorithm were less succesful with multimodal functions, we propose in this paper ...
