A Hybrid System Approach to Power Systems Voltage Control

Proceedings of the 44th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2006
Emergency voltage control problems in electric power networks, which typically feature relatively slow dynamics, have stimulated the interest for the implementation of online optimal control techniques. Nonetheless for realistically sized networks the complexity of the associated optimization problem may prove to be prohibitive; in this sense it is ...

Hybrid control for wide-area power systems based on hybrid system theory

International Journal of Systems Science, 2011
The article focuses on a new two-level hierarchical hybrid control which contains an upper layer discrete supervisory strategy and lower layer continuous decentralised coordinated control based on hybrid system theory for wide-area power system overall stability enhancement.

A compact power converter for hybrid energy systems

IECON 2014 - 40th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2014
In hybrid energy systems, batteries and supercapacitors are usually taken as storage mechanisms for smoothing output power, start-up transition, and various load conditions. As a result, developing hybrid power conversion systems has become an attractive research topic.

Overview of Hybrid Power System

2013
Hybrid power system (HPS) is an electricity generation system combining renewable energy resources and conventional generators. Several components will be utilized in a hybrid power system namely as: conventional generators (diesel generator, synchronous generator, DC generator for field excitation of synchronous generator), renewable energy resources (

Hybrid emergency voltage control in power systems

2003 European Control Conference (ECC), 2003
This paper presents a novel emergency control scheme capable of predicting and preventing a voltage collapse in a power system, that is modelled as a hybrid system incorporating nonlinear dynamics, discrete events and discrete manipulated variables.

A hybrid state estimation scheme for power systems

Asia-Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems, 2003
This paper proposes a hybrid observer scheme for power systems by exploring the special features of the nonlinear power system model. Rather than directly applying the existing nonlinear observer theory to the 6/sup th/ order nonlinear power system model, the model is first decoupled into a 3/sup rd/ order nonlinear subsystem and a 3/sup rd/ order ...

The development and power management of a stationary PEMFC hybrid power system

2015 IEEE/SICE International Symposium on System Integration (SII), 2015
This paper proposed a stationary hybrid power system that consists of a 3kW proton exchange membrane fuel cell, a LiFePO4 battery set, and a solar module. We first established the system architecture and collect the lab's load data for analysis.

Hybrid filter for high-power converter systems

2013 26th Symposium on Integrated Circuits and Systems Design (SBCCI), 2013
This paper presents a digital hybrid filter which can be applied to power electronics control systems. The filter suppresses high-frequency noises while still providing a fast step response, its weighting algorithm is based on an open-loop criteria that analyses the discrepancy between an Infinite Impulse Response (IIR) and a Moving Average (MA) filter.

Hybrid Condition Monitoring for Power Electronic Systems

2019 18th IEEE International Conference On Machine Learning And Applications (ICMLA), 2019
This paper proposes a novel approach for condition monitoring of power electronic systems. When monitoring the state of a power system, reliability is crucial, as this type of system is usually operated continuously for long periods of time, and as both missed faults as well as false detections can easily become prohibitively expensive.
