Large-Eddy Simulation of Axisymmetric Compression Corner Flow [PDF]

open access: yes
The Wall-Modeled Large Eddy Simulation (WMLES) approach is used to study the interaction of a shock wave with a high Reynolds number turbulent boundary layer. Since the near wall region is modeled, high Reynolds number turbulent flows can be simulated at

Boundary Layer Separation from a Curved Backward-Facing Step Using Improved Delayed Detached-Eddy Simulation

open access: yesFluids
Curved surfaces are a feature of many engineering applications, and as such, the accurate prediction of separation and reattachment from a curved surface is of great engineering importance. In this study, improved delayed detached eddy simulation (IDDES)

Computational Study of NASA's Quadrotor Urban Air Taxi Concept [PDF]

open access: yes
High-fidelity computational fluid dynamics simulations have been carried out in order to analyze NASA's quadrotor urban air taxi concept for urban air mobility, also know as on-demand mobility applications. High-order accurate schemes, dual-time stepping,

Non zonal hybrid RANS/LES models

open access: yes, 2009
We show how the concept of partially integrated transport modeling allows to transpose statistical models into subfilter models. It leads to nonzonal hybrid schemes with seamless coupling. They are dedicated to the simulation of turbulent flows on coarse grids, for turbulent flows with strong departure from equilibrium.
