Effect of High-Mass Fraction of Aluminum on Catalytic Hybrid Rocket Motor

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Catalytic hybrid rocket motors using hydrogen peroxide (HP) are easy and efficient to achieve multiple starts and stops, and hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB) grains are commonly used due to their excellent mechanical properties.

Hybrid Rocket Technology

open access: yesDefence Science Journal, 2011
With their unique operational characteristics, hybrid rockets can potentially provide safer, lower-cost avenues for spacecraft and missiles than the current solid propellant and liquid propellant systems. Classical hybrids can be throttled for thrust tailoring, perform in-flight motor shutdown and restart.

Current Status of Rocket Developments in Universities -Development of a Small Hybrid Rocket with a Swirling Oxidizer Flow Type Engine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
To develop an experimental small hybrid rocket with a swirling gaseous oxygen flow type engine, we made a flight model engine. Burning tests of the engine showed that a maximum thrust of 692 N and a specific impulse of 263 s (at sea level) were achieved.

Internally Catalyzed Hydrogen Atom Transfer (I-CHAT)—A New Class of Reactions in Combustion Chemistry

open access: yesMolecules
The current paradigm of low-T combustion and autoignition of hydrocarbons is based on the sequential two-step oxygenation of fuel radicals. The key chain-branching occurs when the second oxygenation adduct (OOQOOH) is isomerized releasing an OH radical ...

Hybrid Rocket Engine Noise: Measurements and Predictions of Acoustic Environments from Horizontal Static Fire

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
A rocket’s turbulent jet radiates intense acoustic waves, which are an acoustic load for structural components like payload, launch structure, and rocket avionics, and impact communities near the launch site.
