Optimal battery selection for hybrid rocket engine [PDF]
In the present paper, the optimal selection of batteries for an electric pump -fed hybrid rocket engine is analyzed. A two -stage Mars Ascent Vehicle, suitable for the Mars Sample Return Mission, is considered as test case. A single engine is employed in the second stage, whereas the first stage uses a cluster of two engines.

Thermoacoustic instabilities in future hybrid rocket engines [PDF]
This thesis investigates the thermoacoustic behaviour of the PB1–HX3 subsystem—comprising a preburner and heat exchanger—within SABRE (Synergetic Air-Breathing Rocket Engine), a single-stage-to-orbit propulsion concept by Reaction Engines Ltd. SABRE integrates advanced heat exchangers with conventional turbomachinery to operate in air-breathing and ...

Restart transients of hybrid rocket engines.
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1973Experimental investigation of the problems associated with restarting hybrid rocket motors (i.e., motors wherein a liquid or gaseous oxidizer is injected into the port of a solid fuel grain with subsequent mixing and combustion of the oxidizer and fuel) following a brief period of extinguishment. The results include the finding that the ignition delay

Hybrid Gas Generator for a Staged Hybrid Rocket Engine
Journal of Propulsion and Power, 2017The two-stage combustion hybrid rocket engine with a hybrid gas generator method offers numerous advantages over a solid-propellant gas generator and classical hybrid rocket engines. These advantages include a higher specific impulse in operation, lower lifecycle costs, and lower sensitivity to combustion pressure.
