The role of non-local exchange in the electronic structure of correlated oxides

open access: yes, 2012
We present a systematic study of the electronic structure of several prototypical correlated transition-metal oxides: VO2, V2O3, Ti2O3, LaTiO3, and YTiO3.

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.

Bright dual‐color electrochemiluminescence of a structurally determined Pt1Ag18 nanocluster

open access: yesAggregate
Metal nanoclusters possess excellent electrochemical, optical, and catalytic properties, but correlating these properties remains challenging, which is the foundation to generate electrochemiluminescence (ECL). Herein, we report for the first time that a

Interlayer Structure Engineering of MXene‐Based Capacitor‐Type Electrode for Hybrid Micro‐Supercapacitor toward Battery‐Level Energy Density

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2021
Micro‐supercapacitors are notorious for their low energy densities compared to micro‐batteries. While MXenes have been identified as promising capacitor‐type electrode materials for alternative zinc‐ion hybrid micro‐supercapacitors (ZHMSCs) with higher ...

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Tetrabutylammonium Iodide–Promoted Thiolation of Oxindoles Using Sulfonyl Chlorides as Sulfenylation Reagents

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
3-Sulfanyloxindoles were synthesised by triphenylphosphine-mediated transition-metal-free thiolation of oxindoles using sulfonyl chlorides as sulfenylation reagents.

Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...

Symmetry breaking of highly symmetrical nanoclusters for triggering highly optical activity

open access: yesFundamental Research
Developing new approaches to fulfill the enantioseparation of nanocluster racemates and construct cluster-based nanomaterials with optical activity remains highly desired in cluster science, because it is an essential prerequisite for fundamental ...

Trace Nickel Activated Biphasic Core‐CuOii/Shell‐CuOi Secondary Microspheres Enable Room Temperature Parts‐Per‐Trillion‐Level NO2 Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An idea of designing novel sensors is proposed by creating appropriate Schottky barriers and vacancies between isomorphous Core‐CuOii/ Shell‐CuOi secondary microspheres and enhancing catalytic and spill‐over effects, and electronegativity via spontaneous biphasic separation, self‐assembly, and trace‐Ni‐doping.
