Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Hybrid Membrane-Distillation Separation Processes

open access: yes, 2014
A novel synthesis approach is developed to evaluate and optimise various hybrid membrane-distillation schemes. The problem is formulated as an optimisation problem, where the objective is to minimise the total operating cost of the separation scheme ...

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Feasibility Study of a Wind-Diesel Hybrid System in a Remote Site on Southern of Algeria

open access: yesRevue des Énergies Renouvelables
In this study, we present an autonomous solution for a village located north of Timimoun in Algeria, with around thirty households. As the region has good wind potential with an average annual speed of around 5m/s, this resource is used to develop a ...

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Hybrid Adaptive Systems

open access: yesBusiness & Information Systems Engineering
Adaptive systems based on information technologies (IT) and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities have become ubiquitous in almost all areas of our private and business lives. Think of social media feeds that adjust their content to our behavior or robo-advisors that adapt their buying behavior according to the stock market and our financial ...
