Unveiling Multidimensional Physicochemical Design Principles for Tissue Processing Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study establishes a materials‐based design framework for polymer hydrogels in tissue clearing, linking physicochemical properties to performance in tissue processing, labeling, and imaging. By analyzing rheology, swelling, porosity, antibody diffusion, mechanical performance, and thermochemical stability across platforms, this work provides a ...

Pixelation‐Free, Monolithic Iontronic Pressure Sensors Enabling Large‐Area Simultaneous Pressure and Position Recognition via Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pixelation‐free, monolithic iontronic pressure sensor enables simultaneous pressure and position sensing over large areas. AC‐driven ion release generates spatially varying impedance pathways depending on the pressure. Machine learning algorithms effectively decouple overlapping pressure–position signals from the multichannel outputs, achieving high ...

Nanolayer‐Encapsulated Stretchable Liquid‐Metal Sheets for Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A stretchable liquid metal sheet with both high thermal conductivity and mechanical flexibility is developed. Its trilayer structure, comprising copper‐particle‐dispersed gallium liquid metal encapsulated by styrene‐butadiene‐styrene nanosheets, shows 40.4 W m−1 K−1 conductivity, elongation exceeding 200%, and retention of 96% of its initial ...

Scalable Polyelectrolyte Complex‐Based Sorbent With Hourly Sorption−Desorption Cycles for Multicyclic Atmospheric Water Harvesting in Arid Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polyelectrolyte complex‐based sorbent is produced by scalable, environmentally benign aqueous phase inversion. Its porous, LiCl‐ and GO‐integrated architecture enables hourly adsorption−desorption cycles at low relative humidity (RH < 30%). A large‐scale prototype achieves multicyclic, solar‐driven atmospheric water harvesting of 1.37 L kg−1 day−1 ...

Indirect Band Edge and Chain‐Locked Linear Dichroism in the Quasi‐1D Van der Waals Antiferromagnet AgCrP2S6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
AgCrP2S6 reveals a momentum‐indirect band edge (≈1.35 eV) and chain‐locked linear dichroism: the first direct transitions emerge at 1.6–1.8 eV for E||a. Resonant Raman and photoemission corroborate this assignment. In ACPS/graphene heterostructures, photocurrent turns on above ≈1.5 eV and follows the same polarization selection rules (anisotropy ≈0.53),

Hybrid Systems and Hybrid Computation 1st Part: Hybrid Systems

Numerical Algorithms, 2003
In the first part of this paper we will give a short historical survey of the field of hybrid systems, a precise definition of a hybrid system and some comments on the definition. In a second paper (“Hybrid systems and hybrid computation – 2nd part: Hybrid computation”) we will concentrate on a particular aspect of the theory closely related to ...

Hybrid Systems Neuroscience

2016
We define the field of hybrid systems neuroscience as the reformulation of hybrid system models, analysis tools and control schemes for neuronal systems. The field of hybrid systems has been built upon the theories of control and computer science. It has inherited control paradigms – including switching control systems and variable structure systems ...

Surgery
Standard laparoscopic instruments have limited dexterity because of their few degrees of freedom, making some surgical tasks extremely challenging. Robotic surgery was developed to overcome these issues, but the da Vinci system is associated with high costs.

SIMPLE HYBRID SYSTEMS

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 1994
A hybrid system is one which can instantaneously switch between a number of phase portraits. Switching occurs when trajectories hit prescribed switching curves. This type of system is highly applicable to digital controls such as robotic controls. A working definition of such a system is given, as well as a method for stabilizing periodic orbits and ...

Insect-machine hybrid system

2013 35th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2013
We demonstrated the remote control of insects in free flight via an implantable radio-equipped miniature neural stimulating system. This paper summarizes these results. The pronotum mounted system consisted of neural stimulators, muscular stimulators, a radio transceiver-equipped microcontroller and a microbattery.
