To hybridize or not to hybridize? This is the dilemma
Computational and Theoretical Chemistry, 2017Abstract A general approach to hybridization, without imposing orthogonality of the hybrids of the central atom, is formulated. It is shown that the overlapping hybrids follow the rules of electronegativity of the central atom, and they increase with the increase of electronegativity (e.g. NH 4 + > CH 4 > BH 4 − ).

Distinction between the sterility of first crosses and of hybrids—Sterility various in degree, not universal, affected by close interbreeding, removed by domestication—Laws governing the sterility of hybrids—Sterility not a special endowment, but incidental on other differences—Causes of the sterility of first crosses and of hybrids—Parallelism...

Hybrid Systems and Hybrid Computation 1st Part: Hybrid Systems
Numerical Algorithms, 2003In the first part of this paper we will give a short historical survey of the field of hybrid systems, a precise definition of a hybrid system and some comments on the definition. In a second paper (“Hybrid systems and hybrid computation – 2nd part: Hybrid computation”) we will concentrate on a particular aspect of the theory closely related to ...

La technique des "hybrides" n'est autre que celle de l'isolement appliquée à une espèce à fécondation croisée. Elle consiste à remplacer un mélange de plantes par un modèle unique de plante "fixée", ici que seul le sélectionneur peut reproduire.

Stochastic Hybrid Processes with Hybrid Jumps
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2003Abstract Switching Diffusion processes can be represented as pathwise unique solutions of SDE's in a hybrid state space that are driven by Brownian motion and Poisson random measure. This paper extends these SDE's to switching jump-diffusions, the jumps of which i) happen simultaneously with mode switching, and ii) depend on the mode after the ...

Optimisation of Hybrid Processes and Hybrid Controllers
2001Most processes of practical interest are hybrid in nature, exhibiting both continuous and discrete characteristics. In many cases, the hybrid behaviour is a result of intrinsic physical phenomena that lead to (practically) instantaneous events such as the appearance and disappearance of thermodynamic phases, changes in flow regimes, equipment failures ...

Physical and hybrid models: hybrid models
2010The complexity of the circulatory system makes its analysis very difficult or sometimes impossible in clinical environment. Moreover, external actions such as mechanical circulatory or ventilatory assistance applied in cases of cardiovascular insufficiency cause the situation to be even more difficult to be analyzed.
