Large Hydatid Cyst in the Cardiac Interventricular Septum: A Rare Case Report and Literature Review
Hydatid disease is a parasitic disease with a high incidence in pastoral areas in Tibet. The heart is an uncommon location of echinococcosis, and involvement of the interventricular septum is even rarer. This disease can remain asymptomatic for a long time, but may result in cardiac tamponade and sudden death.

In humans, hydatid cyst is caused by Echinococcus granulosus. E. granulosus mainly affects the liver and lungs. It is very rare to get a primary ovarian hydatid cyst. Hence, we are reporting a very rare case of primary ovarian hydatid cyst.

We report a case of hydatid cyst of the mediastinum in a 32-year-old female patient who was admitted with chest pain. CT scan reported posterior mediastinal mass towards the right side. Surgical exploration revealed a loculated cyst in posterior mediastinum on the right side, adherent to the overlying lung and underlying bone.
