Sustainable and Multifunctional Natural Macromolecular Polymers for Aqueous Zn Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We comprehensively review the structure‐function relationships and regulatory mechanism of natural macromolecular polymers in stabilizing zinc anodes at the microscopic and mesoscopic scales. The interactions among polymer structures, optimization strategies, and regulatory mechanisms are discussed systematically summarizing recent related research ...

Mechanically Assisted Magnetic Actuation in Ceramic‐Based Microscrolls for Fast and Durable Soft Robotic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ceramic‐based V2O5/Fe3O4 hybrid films are shaped into butterfly‐proboscis‐inspired microscroll actuators. Magnetic triggering initiates unrolling, while geometry‐programmed elastic strain energy drives rapid recoil, enabling fast, reversible, durable, and load‐bearing actuation under near‐field magnetic stimulation.

Adsorption‐Engineered Hydrocarbon Ionomers for Durable Proton‐Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrocarbon ionomers suffer from oxidation‐driven interfacial degradation in PEM fuel cell cathodes, leading to catalyst instability. Here, adsorption‐engineered poly(fluorene) ionomers decouple interfacial anchoring from oxidative degradation, enabling strong catalyst–ionomer interactions while resisting electrochemical oxidation.

Hydration Management

Journal of Gerontological Nursing, 2020
Optimal hydration is essential to health, yet many common health problems of older adults are exacerbated by suboptimal hydration, including falls, adverse medication events, and urinary tract infections to name a few. Understanding dehydration in older adults is difficult, and causes for inadequate intake are multifocal.

Hydrophobic Hydration and the Formation of a Clathrate Hydrate

Physical Review Letters, 1998
We report a direct comparison of the local structure of the hydrophobic hydration of krypton in both the liquid and solid states by the extended x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy technique. The evolution of an ordered hydration shell of the nonpolar gas moiety is followed as the liquid to solid phase transition progresses. The formation of a

The Hydrated Electron

Annual Review of Physical Chemistry, 2017
Existence of a hydrated electron as a byproduct of water radiolysis was established more than 50 years ago, yet this species continues to attract significant attention due to its role in radiation chemistry, including DNA damage, and because questions persist regarding its detailed structure.

Hydration solids

Nature, 2023
Hygroscopic biological matter in plants, fungi and bacteria make up a large fraction of Earth's biomass1. Although metabolically inert, these water-responsive materials exchange water with the environment and actuate movement2-5 and have inspired technological uses6,7. Despite the variety in chemical composition, hygroscopic biological materials across

The hydration of phospholipids

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1974
Abstract The adsorption isotherms of egg phosphatidylcholine, egg phosphatidylethanolamine and bovine phosphatidylserine, in both their lyso and diacyl forms, have been determined in an examination of the hydration characteristics of films of these phospholipids.
