Hydration of Macromolecules

Science, 1969
Frozen protein and nucleic acid solutions at -35°C show relatively narrow (100 milligauss) proton nuclear magnetic resonance signals which are assignable to water that is sufficiently mobile to reduce the dipolar broadening normally associated with solids. Hydration was found to be 0.3 to 0.5 gram of water per gram of protein.

The hydration of phospholipids

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1974
Abstract The adsorption isotherms of egg phosphatidylcholine, egg phosphatidylethanolamine and bovine phosphatidylserine, in both their lyso and diacyl forms, have been determined in an examination of the hydration characteristics of films of these phospholipids.

Hydration of Mononucleotides

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2006
The sequential addition of water molecules to protonated and deprotonated forms of the four mononucleotides dAMP, dCMP, dGMP, and dTMP was studied experimentally by equilibrium measurements using an electrospray mass spectrometer equipped with a drift cell and theoretically by computational methods including molecular modeling and density functional ...

The eight hydrates of strychnine hydrate

2020
Commercial samples of strychnine sulfate were used as the starting material in crystallization experiments accompanied by stability studies. Eight hydrate forms (HyA-HyG), including five novel hydrates, were verified. The crystal structures of HyA (pentahydrate) and HyF (hexahydrate) were determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data.

Hydration and Disease

Journal of the American College of Nutrition, 2007
Many diseases have multifactorial origins. There is increasing evidence that mild dehydration plays a role in the development of various morbidities. In this review, effects of hydration status on acute and chronic diseases are depicted (excluding the acute effects of mild dehydration on exercise performance, wellness, cognitive function, and mental ...

Isoxazole Hydrate

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1974
X-Ray, n.m.r., and dielectric studies show that the hydrate of isoxazole is a typical type II clathrate hydrate in structure, in reorientation rates of host and guest molecules, and in composition.

Hydration for adults

Nursing Standard, 1999
Nurses are keenly aware of the need for patients to be adequately hydrated. This article describes the different types of dehydration and the best way for patients to get the fluids they require.

The Hydration of Viruses

1954
Publisher Summary The size and shape of virus nucleoprotein particles can be evaluated unambiguously only when the degree of hydration is known. This chapter discusses several methods that are available for the determination of the hydration of protein crystals.
