Is a combination of different natural substances suitable for slug (Arion spp.) control?

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2016
In a laboratory study we investigated the contact and barrier efficacy of different natural substances (wood ash, sawdust, hydrated lime, and diatomaceous earth) against slugs of the genus Arion, an important agricultural pest.

A Termite‐Inspired Alternative to Cement

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A termite‐inspired composite of clay, cellulose, and lignin forms a dense fibrous network with concrete‐like strength (32 MPa) and superior elasticity, processed at ambient temperature. Abstract Clay combined with organic materials is used by termites as a strong and durable construction material for their mounds with minimal environmental impact. Here,

Biomimetic Copper Nanoparticles Coated with ACE2‐Overexpressing Membranes for Selective SARS‐CoV‐2 Neutralization and Disinfection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
By fusing ACE2‐overexpressing membrane‐integrated liposome (MIL) with copper nanoparticles, the biomimetic Cu@MIL nanostructures were created that directly hijack the SARS‐CoV‐2 entry pathway. These particles combine potent virus‐targeting precision with intrinsic antiviral activity, achieving rapid neutralization and disinfection.

The Study of the Formation of Sodium Chromate from El-Baramiya High-Silica Chromite Ore Concentrate Using Hydrated Lime

open access: yesEurasian Chemico-Technological Journal, 2007
The formation of sodium chromate from a mixture of high-silica chromite ore concentrate (48.8%), soda ash and hydrated lime was investigated. Hydrated lime was added to an optimal mixture of Cr2O3:Na2CO3 (mole ratio 1:2.5) (mole ratio of CaO 0-3) and the

Hydration Kinetics of Recarbonized Lime.

open access: yesISIJ International, 1997
The hydration rate of partially recarbonized lime pellets has been studied by employing a single pellet into a stream of air/vapor water mixtures using a computer aided thermo-gravimetric technique. The hydration reaction takes place on a sharp, well defined interface between the product layer and the unreacted core.
