Design of a Hydraulic Actuator Test Stand for Non-Linear Analysis of Hydraulic Actuator Systems

Automation Technology for Off-Road Equipment Proceedings of the 2002 Conference, 2013
Stability is imperative in the design of hydraulic systems. Servo-hydraulic systems are inherently non-linear creating various nuances when analyzing the stability of the system. Friction, port flow, saturation, impact loading, line dynamics, and boundary conditions are a few of the many non-linearities found in servo-hydraulic systems which are to ...

Control of a hydraulically-actuated quadruped robot leg

2010 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2010
This paper is focussed on the modelling and control of a hydraulically-driven biologically-inspired robotic leg. The study is part of a larger project aiming at the development of an autonomous quadruped robot (hyQ) for outdoor operations. The leg has two hydraulically-actuated degrees of freedom (DOF), the hip and knee joints.

Robust microvalves for hydraulic actuators

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Robust compact hydraulic actuators are extremely needed in space industry where payload is critical. Microvalves are key component for compact hydraulic actuators. Robust microvalves with large load bearing ability, large flow rate, and high operational frequency are objectives of this research.

Electrically Actuated Hydraulic Solids

Advanced Engineering Materials, 2016
The authors introduce a new class of electrically‐actuated soft materials. Electro‐active hydraulic solids (EAHSs) are comprised of numerous microscale phase change capsules embedded inside a conductive elastomer matrix which replicate traditional wax actuators in a massively parallel fashion.

Novel Linear Hydraulic Actuator

ASME/BATH 2015 Symposium on Fluid Power and Motion Control, 2015
In the area of linear motion, infinite stroke only is provided by electric actuators today, until now there has been no hydraulic alternative. The novel linear hydraulic actuator consists of two double acting cylinders with a common piston rod. The working principle of this actuator for short movements is that at least one piston is connected to the ...

Hydraulically actuated artificial muscles

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
Hydraulic Artificial Muscles (HAMs) consisting of a polymer tube constrained by a nylon mesh are presented in this paper. Despite the actuation mechanism being similar to its popular counterpart, which are pneumatically actuated (PAM), HAMs have not been studied in depth.

A hydraulically-actuated vibrating table.

In engineering testing, a requirement frequently arises for subjecting components or assemblies to vibrations, in order to observe whether they possess undesirable resonances in their component parts, or whether they are sufficiently robust to operate under environmental conditions of severe vibration.

Alternatives to chrome for hydraulic actuators

Sealing Technology, 2007
The replacement of hard chrome as a wear and corrosion resistant coating is receiving considerable attention in certain application areas. One of the primary applications of interest to the sealing community is the coating of hydraulic cylinder piston rods.
