Calculation of Hydraulic Resistance of Vortex Devices

Theoretical Foundations of Chemical Engineering
The design of vortex devices for carrying out various heat and mass transfer and separation processes should ensure the achievement of maximum efficiency with minimum energy costs; therefore, the task of determining their hydraulic resistance is relevant both when developing new devices or modernizing existing technological installations, and when ...

Hydraulic calculation of energy dissipators

Hydrotechnical Construction, 1995
1. Baffle walls, stilling basins, and their combinations are the simplest and quite effective energy dissipators. Their hydraulic calculation methods for conditions of the two-dimensional problem have been developed rather reliably and cover a wide range of problems.

Numerical calculation of submerged hydraulic jumps

Journal of Hydraulic Research, 2001
The turbulence characteristics of submerged hydraulic jumps have been investigated numerically by means of the standard k-e turbulence model. The concept of a fractional volume of fluid (VOF) is employed to track the moving free surface. Numerical predictions include surface profiles, hydrodynamic pressures, mean velocities, turbulence intensities and ...

Hydraulic Calculations for Flow in Lock Manifolds

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 1991
A procedure to calculate the flow and pressure distributions within navigation-lock manifolds is presented. The approach is to treat each port as a discrete element in the flow system. Values of port hydraulic coefficients are established using previously reported laboratory studies of the flow characteristics of single-port manifolds.

Hydraulic Calculations of Sprinkler Systems

2018
Automatic sprinkler systems are classified as light hazard, ordinary hazard, and extra hazard based on the building use or type of occupancy the system it is designed to protect, and there are different pipe size schedules for each of these three classifications.

Hydraulic Calculation of Standpipe Systems

2016
The whole standpipe system exists to provide water for firefighting purposes. In the design of a standpipe system, the designer needs to make sure that there will be a water supply that can provide a sufficient flow of water at a sufficient pressure for a sufficient period of time.

Calculation of a closed hydraulic volumetric system

Vestnik Mashinostroeniya, 2021
An algorithm is proposed for calculating a closed volumetric hydraulic pump-hydraulic motor system using the example of the hydraulic system of a wind power plant, based on the calculation of the hydraulic systems of mobile machines. The main characteristics of the system components, the selection of initial data for the calculation, working fluid and ...

Calculating the Probability of Failure of a Hydraulic System

Australasian Journal of Water Resources, 2002
This paper illustrates a simple, accurate and efficient method of estimating the probability of failure of a hydraulic system. The proposed method requires the same information as that of conventional methods. It does not require one to estimate or assume the probability density function of the performance function, describing the behaviour of the ...
