The hydraulic conductivity of Matrigel™
Biorheology: The Official Journal of the International Society of Biorheology, 2007In this study, we measured the specific hydraulic conductivity (K) of Matrigel™ at 1% and 2% concentrations as a function of perfusion pressure (0 to 100 mmHg) and compared the results to predictions from two models: a fiber matrix model that predicted K of the gel based upon its composition, and a biphasic model that predicted changes in K caused by ...

In this chapter, the probabilistic porous network model is employed to establish a fully analytical equation for the relative hydraulic conductivity of soils. From this approach, a parameter accounting for the proportion of pores of different sizes forming continuous paths of saturated elements between the boundaries is used to compute the ...

Hydraulic conductivity of polymer matrices
Biophysical Chemistry, 1989We demonstrate that the chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan exhibits enhanced sensitivity to the flow of water compared to other macromolecules which is in accord with their functional role in conferring compressive resistance to cartilage. In order to understand factors that may contribute to its low hydraulic conductivity, a comparative study of ...

Interstitial hydraulic conductivity in a fibrosarcoma
American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 2000Convective transport of therapeutic agents in solid tumors can be improved through intratumoral infusion. To optimize the convection, we investigated the dependence of the hydraulic conductivity on tissue deformation induced by interstitial fluid pressure gradient during the infusion.

Hydraulic conductivity of compacted zeolites
Waste Management & Research: The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy, 2013Hydraulic conductivities of compacted zeolites were investigated as a function of compaction water content and zeolite particle size. Initially, the compaction characteristics of zeolites were determined. The compaction test results showed that maximum dry unit weight (γ dmax ) of fine ...

Hydraulic Conductivity Of Rockfill
Journal of Hydraulic Research, 1978Dimensionless equations for the hydraulic conductivity of crushed rock and river gravel have been developed on the basis of approximately 1250 permeameter tests. Experimental data of a number of researches were used in the correlations. Grain sizes varied from .55 to .79 mm and pore Reynolds numbers were in the range of .001 to 20,000.

Hydraulic Conductivity Prediction for Sandy Soils
Groundwater, 2004Abstract The potential for petroleum‐contaminated soils to impact ground water is evaluated using the soil leachability model in South Carolina and Georgia. In this model, the Green and Ampt (1911) equation is used to estimate unsat‐urated flow with saturated hydraulic conductivity (

Dentin Permeability: Determinants of Hydraulic Conductance
Journal of Dental Research, 1978A technique is described which permits measurement of the ease with which fluid permeates dentin. This value, the hydraulic conductance of dentin, increased as surface area increases and/or as dentin thickness decreases. It increased 32-fold when dentin was acid etched due to removal of surface debris occluding the tubules.

Hydraulic conductivity of ischemic pulmonary venules
American Journal of Physiology-Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology, 1993We report the first determination of lung endothelial barrier properties in ischemic, nonreperfused microvessels. We quantified the endothelial barrier in terms of hydraulic conductivity (Lp) in single pulmonary venules (diameter 20–50 microns) of isolated blood perfused lungs (dog, rat), held at constant inflation pressure (5 cmH2O) with a gas ...

Multiple Parameterization for Hydraulic Conductivity Identification
Groundwater, 2008Abstract Hydraulic conductivity identification remains a challenging inverse problem in ground water modeling because of the inherent nonuniqueness and lack of flexibility in parameterization methods. This study introduces maximum weighted log‐likelihood estimation (MWLLE) along with multiple generalized parameterization (GP) methods ...
