Production of Elastomeric Composites With Different Methods of Incorporating of Graphene Nanoplatelets Into SBR Latex

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
This study explores scalable methods of incorporating graphene nanoplatelets into SBR latex with or without a surfactant, using either powder or a masterbatch. Results show that combining a masterbatch with the surfactant DTAB improves vulcanization speed, mechanical strength, hardness, thermal conductivity, and resistance to aging.

Fasting and Refeeding Mediated Phospholipid Remodeling Plays an Important Role in Improving Meat Quality of Aged Laying Hens

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored fasting‐induced physiological remodeling effects on meat quality in aged laying hens. Fasting for 15 days (F15) significantly reduced abdominal fat, intermuscular fat width, subcutaneous fat thickness, and liver index versus pre‐fasting (F0) (p < 0.05), which recovered post‐refeeding.

Cathode Processing Optimization Toward Solid‐State Batteries with Monolithic Oxysulfide Glassy Solid Electrolytes

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
Mixing order and mixing time affect the ionic and electronic transport properties through a composite cathode made from lithium iron pyrophosphate, an oxysulfide glassy solid electrolyte, and conductive carbon. It is proposed that optimized milling conditions help create robust conduction networks in the composite. Seeking to further the development of

Fast‐Charging of Solid‐State Batteries Enabled by Functional Additives Infused into High‐Mass‐Loading Nickel Manganese Cobalt Cathodes

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
Bottlebrush polymer additives offer a versatile and robust solution to the fundamental transport and contact challenges in all‐solid‐state lithium metal batteries. In this work, high mass loading nickel manganese cobalt cathodes with various polymer additives are prepared, and the electrochemical properties are investigated.

Hydraulic Conductivity

2022
In this chapter, the probabilistic porous network model is employed to establish a fully analytical equation for the relative hydraulic conductivity of soils. From this approach, a parameter accounting for the proportion of pores of different sizes forming continuous paths of saturated elements between the boundaries is used to compute the ...

The hydraulic conductivity of Matrigel™

Biorheology: The Official Journal of the International Society of Biorheology, 2007
In this study, we measured the specific hydraulic conductivity (K) of Matrigel™ at 1% and 2% concentrations as a function of perfusion pressure (0 to 100 mmHg) and compared the results to predictions from two models: a fiber matrix model that predicted K of the gel based upon its composition, and a biphasic model that predicted changes in K caused by ...

Hydraulic conductivity of polymer matrices

Biophysical Chemistry, 1989
We demonstrate that the chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan exhibits enhanced sensitivity to the flow of water compared to other macromolecules which is in accord with their functional role in conferring compressive resistance to cartilage. In order to understand factors that may contribute to its low hydraulic conductivity, a comparative study of ...

Hydraulic conductivity of compacted zeolites

Waste Management & Research: The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy, 2013
Hydraulic conductivities of compacted zeolites were investigated as a function of compaction water content and zeolite particle size. Initially, the compaction characteristics of zeolites were determined. The compaction test results showed that maximum dry unit weight (γdmax) of fine zeolite was greater than that of granular zeolites.
