Simple one-parameter models for predicting changes in unsaturated soil hydraulic properties with changing soil-water content are useful, considering the great uncertainty and variability in the hydraulic parameters, and the models are often used for stochastic simulations of water and solute transport under field conditions.

AN ANALYSIS OF THE DATA COLLECTED REVEALED THAT FIELD- MEASURED HYDRAULIC CONDUCTIVITIES OF PEATS WERE SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER THAN CORRESPONDING LABORATORY VALUES. IT WAS ASSUMED THE FIELD-MEASURED VALUE WOULD MORE ACCURATELY REPRESENT THE HYDRAULIC CONDUCTIVITY OF ORGANIC SOILS.

The aquifer which forms the main water supply for the municipalities of Malmo and Lund owes its value to the deposition of coarse sands during the deglaciation of the late Weichselian ice.
