Microwave Position Sensor for Hydraulic Drives

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2016
Abstract The basics, design, prototype and characterization of a microwave based linear displacement sensor for piston position detection in hydraulic cylinders is presented. This function is important for industrial applications to provide a precise feedback in position controlled hydraulic drives.

Mechanical Behavior and Microstructural Changes Associated with Tensile Deformation above the Martensite Start Temperature during Quenching and Subsequent Partitioning of a Low‐Alloy 37SiB6 Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A new experimental setup, incorporating digital image correlation and infrared thermography in combination with inductive‐conductive heating for precise temperature control, is used to analyze the mechanical behavior and microstructural changes of sheet metal under complex thermomechanical test conditions that represent quench and partitioning ...

Hydraulic system provides smooth control of large tracking and antenna drive systems at very low tracking rates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Hydraulic system provides smooth control of large tracking and antenna drive systems at very low tracking rates. This configuration modifies a series connection of the drive motors with compensating orifices to offset the effects of drain line loss ...

Combining Metal Additive Manufacturing and Casting Technology: High Performance Cooling Channels for Electric Powertrain Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
When realized as inserts in high‐pressure die casting, aluminum cooling channels for electric powertrain components and similar applications typically require a stabilizing filler to survive the process. The present study investigates relinquishing this filler using additively manufactured inserts promising performance improvements.

Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of a Hard Anodic Coating Applied on an Elastically Prestrained Aluminum Substrate

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Prestraining the substrate influences coating formation process. Higher prestraining force leads to higher coating thickness and lower hardness. Increase in prestraining force enhances preliminary damage in hard anodic coating. Fatigue damage mechanisms change for hard anodized prestrained samples.

Influence of undissolved gas in working liquid on dynamics of a logger hydraulic drive

open access: yesИзвестия Томского политехнического университета: Инжиниринг георесурсов, 2019
The urgency of the discussed issue is caused by the fact that working liquids of a hydraulic drive often contain undissolved air. If the hydraulic liquid filling the device is not exposed to a vacuum, it will be a mixture of liquid and gas.

On the Deformation Behavior of Metastable CrMnNi Steels Processed by Directed Energy Deposition in Different Temperature Regimes

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In the present study, metastable CrMnNi steels with varying chemical compositions and a concomitantly altered stacking fault energy are processed via directed energy deposition and afterwards tested via tensile tests at different temperatures. The present study shows the influence of the manufacturing process on the elemental deformation mechanisms for
