Hydraulic losses in cryogenic pipelines

Azerbaijan Oil Industry, 2023
Pressure losses in cryogenic pipelines for cases of monophasity of the flow are defined by known formulas of hydraulics for ordinary viscous liquids. The movement of the two-phase flow is much complicated by the hydraulic calculation of the cryogenic pipeline. There are basically three types of cryogenic flow movement in the pipelines.

Hydraulic losses in cryogenic pipelines

Azerbaijan Oil Industry, 2022
The pressure loss in cryogenic pipelines for the cases with one-phase flow is specified via known hydraulic formulas for general fluids. The stream of two-phase flow causes troubles for hydraulic calculation of cryogenic pipeline. There are three main types of cryogenic flow in the pipelines. First type is characterized with quite equal distribution of

On the loss of symmetry in toughness dominated hydraulic fractures

International Journal of Fracture, 2022
International audience ; Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, is a ubiquitous technique for generating fracture networks in rocks for enhanced geothermal systems or hydrocarbon extraction from shales. For decades, models, numerical simulation tools, and practical guidelines have been based on the assumption that this process generates networks of self ...

Unsteadiness and viscous losses in hydraulic turbines

Journal of Hydraulic Research, 2006
The variation of the mechanical energy for the mean, oscillating and turbulent flows are considered. Their mean point out the contribution of the unsteadiness to the viscous losses and the turbulent production. A two-dimensional turbulent pulsating flow is investigated for different unsteady regimes to illustrate the effects of unsteadiness on the ...

Reduction of hydraulic losses by additions of surfactants

Journal of Engineering Physics, 1976
A reduction in the hydrodynamic resistance in large-diameter tubes is achieved by the addition of industrial surfactants. The relation of this effect to the rheological properties of the solutions is noted.

On the Loss of Hydraulic Permeability in Ceramic Membranes

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1996
The properties of inorganic membranes are dependent on the surface chemistry of the material, which in turn are affected by parameters such as temperature, pH, and chemisorption of molecules. For both silica and γ-alumina membranes, a significant reduction in water hydraulic permeability was observed after heat treatment or exposure to organic solvents.

A Comprehensive Model of Fluid Loss in Hydraulic Fracturing

SPE Production & Facilities, 1994
SummaryThis paper presents a comprehensive model of the fluid-loss process that occurs in hydraulic fracturing. The model treats the three flow regions in the leakoff process—the filter cake, the invaded zone and the reservoir zone—as a composite system with a rigorous account of the interface between the last two zones.

Exit Flows and Hydraulic Losses

2016
In order to calculate and enhance the system efficiency of a Pelton turbine, it is essential to know which hydraulic and mechanical losses exist and how they can be estimated and above all successfully reduced. The efficiency of a Pelton turbine has so far been almost exclusively determined through measurements which are either restricted to ...

Hydraulic Loss Coefficients for Culverts

2012
Traditional culvert applications were designed by determining the minimum culvert size that will pass the specified design flood. In recent years, culvert performance objectives and designs have been expanded to include other considerations such as improving fish and/or terrestrial animal passage and rehabilitating old, deteriorated culverts.
