Influence of Sample Preparation and Processing Procedures on the Thermal Diffusivity of MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

Influence of oil temperature changing over time on pump-induced pressure ripples in a hydraulic line

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
It is known that fluid-borne noise emitted from a hydraulic system often causes severe discomfort of the operator. It is also known that the noise can change as the system warms up.

Performance Features of Tooth Gearing in Gear Hydraulic Machines

open access: yesActa Technologica Agriculturae, 2021
The paper presented determines that the rotation velocities of gears and radii connecting the axes of rotation of the gears with the point of their teeth gearing are not equal with each other.

Enhancing Operation of a Sewage Pumping Station for Inter Catchment Wastewater Transfer by Using Deep Learning and Hydraulic Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper presents a novel Inter Catchment Wastewater Transfer (ICWT) method for mitigating sewer overflow. The ICWT aims at balancing the spatial mismatch of sewer flow and treatment capacity of Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), through collaborative ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Modeling soil-water dynamics for diverse environmental needs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Accurate representation of the top soil matrix with special attention to the scales present is important to the dynamics of water flow and fate of pollution at field, farm and watershed scales.

Benchmarking 2D hydraulic models for urban flood simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper describes benchmark testing of six two-dimensional (2D) hydraulic models (DIVAST, DIVASTTVD, TUFLOW, JFLOW, TRENT and LISFLOOD-FP) in terms of their ability to simulate surface flows in a densely urbanised area. The models are applied to a 1·0

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Prediction of the hydraulic jump length on sloping rough beds using meta- heuristic neuro-fuzzy model and differential evolution algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Research in Water and Wastewater, 2019
Generally, Hydraulic jumps usually happen at the downstream of hydraulic structures like ogee spillways. In addition, one of the parameters affecting the proper design of stilling basin is calculation of the hydraulic jump length. In this study, a hybrid

Interaction between Injection Points during Hydraulic Fracturing

open access: yes, 2012
We present a model of the hydraulic fracturing of heterogeneous poroelastic media. The formalism is an effective continuum model that captures the coupled dynamics of the fluid pressure and the fractured rock matrix and models both the tensile and shear ...
