River temperature sensitivity to hydraulic and meteorological parameters

Journal of Environmental Management, 2002
A sensitivity analysis is performed to evaluate river temperature variations in response to changes in hydraulic and meteorological conditions. The effects of instream flow, river geometry, and weather factors on daily mean and daily maximum river temperatures are quantified by analytical solutions to a simplified model.

Estimating Hydraulic Parameters When Poroelastic Effects Are Significant

Groundwater, 2011
For almost 80 years, deformation‐induced head changes caused by poroelastic effects have been observed during pumping tests in multilayered aquifer‐aquitard systems. As water in the aquifer is released from compressive storage during pumping, the aquifer is deformed both in the horizontal and vertical directions.

Viral Hepatitis and Hydraulic Parameters: An Alternative Hypothesis

Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 1979
Point source outbreaks of viral hepatitis have been associated with the consumption of contaminated food and water, yet epidemiologic analysis of the disease in the general population usually provides strong correlations with sub-standard socioeconomic conditions.

Simulation Study of the Effect of Hydraulic Hose Parameters on Hydraulic Impact

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012
Considering the large deformation of the hose pipe diameter caused by the pressure, this paper revises the hydraulic capacity on the basis of physical model of pipe-wall, establishes the mathematical model of the hose by lumped parameter model of pipe, builds the model of the system composed of the constant pressure oil source and flow valve using ...

Selection procedure for hydraulic impact system parameters

Journal of Mining Science, 2014
The developed procedure to select parameters of positive-displacement hydropercussion systems has two stages. The first stage is the picking of the key parameters; the second stage is the engineering design of the system, adjustment of the selected parameters using the multivariate optimization procedure and the improvement of the system performance.

Unsaturated Soil Hydraulic Parameter Studies

2000
Abstract : Different field and laboratory methods for determining the hydraulic properties of unsaturated soils were studied. Drying moisture retention curves were measured on undisturbed soil samples with a pressure plate apparatus, and wetting soil moisture retention curves were measured on repacked soil columns via a capillary rise experiment ...

Parameters Affecting Hydraulic Behavior of Aerated Lagoons

Journal of Environmental Engineering, 2005
Tracer studies were performed at the full-scale St-Hermas aerated lagoon, Quebec, Canada, and a dynamically similar laboratory model to determine the effects of the water flow rate and aeration rate on hydraulic mixing. The tracer study E-curves were extrapolated to ensure conservation of the tracer mass within the system and in turn were analyzed ...

Estimation of Border-Strip Soil Hydraulic Parameters

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 2012
The inverse problem of determining soil hydraulic parameters (saturated hydraulic conductivity and water retention parameters) of border-strip irrigation from irrigation event data is analyzed. The inverse problem is solved using sequential unconstrained minimization technique.
