Numerical study on multi-buoy-type wave energy converter platform with hydraulic PTO system
OCEANS 2017 - Aberdeen, 2017This study examined the hydrodynamic performance of a multi-point absorber with a hydraulic power take-off (PTO) system and estimated the optimal conditions for maximum power extraction. The multi-point absorber is composed of two hemispheric buoys with a hydraulic PTO system.

A numerical study on a floating hemisphere wave energy converter with hydraulic PTO system
OCEANS 2016 - Shanghai, 2016The aim of this study is to conduct a hydrodynamic analysis of a point absorber-type floating hemisphere with Power take-off(PTO) system for an optimum design of wave energy converter(WEC). In general, to predict the behavior of WEC, the equation of floating body motion can be solved in the frequency-domain analysis.

Accelerating Hydraulic PTO Design and Validation through the HAWSEC Platform
The Hawaiʻi Wave Surge Energy Converter (HAWSEC), a bottom-fixed oscillating surge wave energy converter, features a pitching aluminum flap connected to a hydraulic power take-off (PTO) system, generating a high-velocity jet to drive an off-the-shelf hydroelectric turbine for efficient wave-to-wire power conversion.Heitmann, Troy +3 more

Oscillating bodies constitute an important class of wave energy converters, especially for offshore deployment. Phase control by latching has been proposed in the 1970s to enhance the wave energy absorption by oscillating bodies (especially the so-called point absorbers).
