Unidirectional Tape‐Based Composites from Hemp and Pineapple Leaf Fiber: Mechanical Performance in Conventional and Bio‐Based Matrices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study investigates novel semi‐finished products made of unidirectionally arranged hemp or pineapple leaf fiber‐reinforced composites produced from different matrices. The materials are analyzed in terms of their mechanical and interfacial properties and void content.

Formulae for Calculating the Critical Water Depth in Standard I and II Horseshoe-shaped Open Channels

open access: yesGuan'gai paishui xuebao, 2021
【Background and objective】 Critical water depth is an important design parameter of open channels. Since standard horseshoe-shaped open channel does not have strict requirements on geological environment and is convenient to construct, it has been widely

Variations in roughness predictions (flume experiments) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Data of flume experiments with bed forms are used to analyze and compare different roughness predictors. In this study, the hydraulic roughness consists of grain roughness and form roughness.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

A Standardized Treatment Model for Head Loss of Farmland Filters Based on Interaction Factors

open access: yesAgriculture
A head loss model for pressureless mesh filters used in farmland irrigation was developed by integrating the four basic test factors: irrigation flow, filter cartridge speed, self-cleaning flow, and initial sand content.

Influence of Sample Preparation and Processing Procedures on the Thermal Diffusivity of MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

Colebrook’s Flow Friction Explicit Approximations Based on Fixed-Point Iterative Cycles and Symbolic Regression

open access: yesComputation, 2019
The logarithmic Colebrook flow friction equation is implicitly given in respect to an unknown flow friction factor. Traditionally, an explicit approximation of the Colebrook equation requires evaluation of computationally demanding transcendental ...

Assessment of zonal isolation risk to changes in design parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The Well Containment Screening Tool (WCST) focuses on well integrity evaluation after well control incident. The WCST favors a greater wall thickness and, hence, a narrower cementing annulus, potentially increasing the risk of cement loss.
