Plate Tectonics and Hydrocarbon Accumulation

1978
The vertical tectonics inherent in the scheme of lateral motions of plates of lithosphere affords a coherent logic for the analysis of sedimentary basins. Subsidence may stem from crustal attenuation, thermotectonics, flexure of lithosphere, or combinations of these influences in space or time.

Accumulation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in crankcase oil

Environmental Pollution, 1988
The concentrations of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were measured in automotive crankcase oils. PAHs were not detected in the new oil; however, concentrations increased rapidly with usage in the gasoline engine of an automobile. The PAH distributions found were dominated by alkylated two- and three-ring compounds.

Accumulation of hydrocarbon in a patient with adrenoleukodystrophy

Journal of Neurology, 1983
The lipid composition of tissues from a patient with adrenoleukodystrophy was examined. Cholesterol esters of both brain and adrenal tissues contained increased proportions of fatty acids longer than C22 in agreement with previous reports. During this study, thin-layer chromatographic analysis of the neutral lipid fraction from the cerebral white ...

Evaluating Seals for Hydrocarbon Accumulations

AAPG Bulletin, 1984
Seals are an important and commonly overlooked component in the evaluation of a potential hydrocarbon accumulation. Effective seals for hydrocarbon accumulations are typically thick, laterally continuous, ductile rocks with high capillary entry pressures. Seals need to be evaluated at two differing scales: a "micro" scale and a "mega" or prospect scale.

Interregional Unconformities and Hydrocarbon Accumulation

1984
The result of a session at the 1981 AAPG Annual Meeting, this volume attempts to document global age and magnitude of sea-level shifts, and ultimately, the cause of the short-term shifts. Twelve individual papers were published on topics such as: comparative anatomy of cratonic unconformities; relation of unconformities, tectonics, and sea-level change;

Microbiological Indicators of Subsurface Hydrocarbon Accumulations

AAPG Bulletin, 1991
The measurement of toxin tolerance in the microbial communities present in stream sediments has been demonstrated to be an effective exploration tool. The technique relies on the fact that metals of, or associated with, ore deposits often represent toxins to microbial communities.
