Strategic Innovation in Hydrocarbon Exploration
Progress’19, 2019Summary Exploration supplies 70–80% of economic value (EV) in the petroleum industry by means of acquiring geological information (GI), which diminishes risks and gains value by improving benefits, different types of decision-making processes, direct savings in terms of avoided costs, etc. 2D and 3D seismic data being the main source of GI at the early

Frontiers in Hydrocarbon Exploration
1988Although this symposium pertains to observation through drilling of the continental crust, I was asked by the planners of this meeting to present a paper showing the frontiers where significant oil and gas resources may be found. These areas lie onshore and offshore and new concepts and techniques in drilling, whether or not discussed in this meeting ...

Basin Analysis and Hydrocarbon Exploration
2015The exploration of sedimentary basins for mineral and fuel resources requires a sound knowledge of the evolution of the sedimentary basin, including its origin, stratigraphic architecture, paleogeography and subsidence history. Micropaleontology is applied at various stages of basin analysis.

Hydrocarbons in Hungary - Exploration and development
56th EAEG Meeting, 1994Nearly 80 per cent of Hungary's 93 000 km2 national territory lies within the oil and/or gas bearing area. Since the first discovery in 1937 136 oil and gas fields have been discovered. Sixtysix per cent of recoverable reserves are found in the Tertiary sediments and 34% in karstified Mesozoic and fractured Palaeozoic Formations.

Geochemical hydrocarbon exploration — a new/old exploration tool
Journal of Geochemical Exploration, 1983Abstract The search for petroleum has evolved into a highly sophisticated technology where today almost every scientific discipline known is being brought to bear upon the endeavour. Yet, the use of geochemical hydrocarbon exploration remains a peripheral exploration tool.

Hydrocarbon Exploration Potential in Migration Pathways
Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference, 2019Abstract Part of the hydrocarbons generated in the mature kitchens migrate into the conventional traps while the other portions remain in the kitchens as unconventional resources. However, significant part of the generated hydrocarbons could be available in the migration pathways. Hydrocarbons in the migration pathways are

Hydrocarbons in Spain - exploration and production
First Break, 1994Spain cannot be considered a prolific hydrocarbon country. Based on data as of April 1992, annual domestic crude oil production accounts for only 2% of consumption (1.1 MM tons against 53.8 MM tons) and gas production accounts for only 17% (40 bcf against 232 bcf).

Hydrocarbon Exploration Using Marine EM Techniques
Offshore Technology Conference, 2005Historical Introduction Historically, marine electromagnetic (EM) methods have been employed to study the crust and mantle of the deep ocean, with the earliest applications dating back to Charles ('Chip') Cox's pioneering work on the marine magnetotelluric (MT) method (Cox et al., 1980) and controlled source EM (or ...
