New exploration strategy in igneous petroliferous basins – Enlightenment from simulation experiments

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation, 2018
There are two kinds of relationships between magmatism and the generation of hydrocarbons from source rocks in petroliferous basins, namely: (1) simultaneous magmatism and hydrocarbon generation, and (2) magmatism that occurs after hydrocarbon generation.

Electrocatalytic Reduction of CO2 to Ethylene: Catalyst Design and Synchrotron‐Based Characterizations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review evaluates strategies for electrochemical CO2 reduction to ethylene, focusing on copper‐based catalyst design and microenvironment modulation to achieve industrial‐grade performance. By leveraging operando synchrotron‐based characterizations, we provide a multiscale understanding of dynamic structural transformations and key reaction ...

Basin Modeling And Hydrocarbon Exploration

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, 1991
Yalcin, M.N., 1991. Basin modeling and hydrocarbon exploration. J. Pet. Sci. Eng., 5:379-398. The generation, migration and accumulation of oil and gas are a series of dynamic processes linked to the evolution of sedimentary basins. A sedimentary basin is formed by very complex interrelated processes, which form a multiparameter dynamic system ...

Polymer Infiltration Into SURMOF Channels Enables Hydrophobic and Solid‐Like Slippery Functional Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a polymer‐chain insertion strategy to fabricate pore‐threaded MOF thin films with precisely tuned surface chemistry and wettability. Grafting n‐alkane chains into the pillared layer Cu2(bdc)2(dabco) MOF thin film's vertical nanochannels enhances water stability, and induces hydrophobicity and lubricant‐free, solid‐like slippery behavior ...

Hydrocarbon generation, expulsion, and retention characteristics of the Permian Fengcheng shale and Lucaogou shale in the Junggar Basin: implications for the exploration of lacustrine shale oil

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Hydrocarbon generation patterns are crucial for defining favorable exploration maturity intervals and targets for shale oil. The Permian Fengcheng shale and Lucaogou shale in the Junggar Basin, as significant targets for shale oil exploration, study on ...

Metal–Organic Frameworks for Gaseous Pollutant Management: From Capture to Neutralization and Reutilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review maps how MOFs can manage hazardous gases by combining adsorption, neutralization, and reutilization, enabling sustainable air‐pollution control. Covering chemical warfare agent simulants, SO2, NOx, NH3, H2S, and volatile organic compounds, it highlights structure‐guided strategies that boost selectivity, water tolerance, and cycling ...

BACH, a Bayesian Optimization Protocol for Accurate Coarse‐Grained Parameterization of Organic Liquids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.

Quantitative evaluation of hydrocarbon resource potential and its distribution in the Bozhong Sag and surrounding areas, Bohai Bay Basin

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2011
The Bozhong Sag is the biggest hydrocarbon rich sag in the Bohai Sea area. However, hydrocarbon resource potential and its distribution are not clear, which restricts petroleum exploration.
