The Energy Dilemma: Does Energy Security Risk and Renewable Energy Affect Fossil Material Footprint? Policy Framework for Securing SDGs

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Energy security risk has a positive impact on material footprint. Renewable energy consumption reduces material footprint. ABSTRACT Following a high economic growth path, the group of G7 economies is found to be utilising more and more material, causing a material footprint (MF), which in turn contributes to pollution.

Streamlined Synthesis of Triamantane from Readily Available Starting Materials

open access: yesHelvetica Chimica Acta, EarlyView.
A practical laboratory synthesis of triamantane based on the McKervey modification of the Schleyer stabilomeric synthesis is described. A high‐yielding rearrangement of Binor‐S and a significantly facilitated Diels–Alder step allowed an operationally simple sequence that reliably delivers triamantane on a tens‐of‐grams scale.

Temperature‐Dependent Investigation of the S‐Branch Raman Linewidth in CO2 via Time‐Resolved Rotational CARS

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
We studied the temporal evolution of the rotational coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (RCARS) signal of CO2 to determine the S‐branch Raman linewidth, which is an essential parameter for accurate spectral modeling in RCARS gas‐phase diagnostics. We found a non‐monotonic J‐dependence of the S‐branch Raman linewidth not accounted for in previously ...

A Shock‐Tube Study of the HCl + M →$\to $ H + Cl + M (M = Ar) Rate Constant Using HCl Laser Absorption Near 3.3 µm

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Kinetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogen chlorine (HCl) is an important combustion intermediate during plastic (municipal waste) and composite propellant (aerospace) combustion, but the understanding of its high‐temperature chemistry is still evolving. In this study, the pyrolysis of 0.5% HCl in Ar was investigated behind reflected shock waves in a shock tube at temperatures
