Tubular carbonate concretions as hydrocarbon migration pathways? Examples from North Island, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Cold seep carbonate deposits are associated with the development on the sea floor of distinctive chemosyn¬thetic animal communities and carbonate minerali¬sation as a consequence of microbially mediated anaerobic oxidation of methane.

Hydrocarbon generation from calcium stearate: Insights from closed-system pyrolysis

open access: yes, 2021
The total organic carbon of carbonate sediments includes a 5%-45% contribution from acid-soluble organic matter, particularly carboxylic acid salts. However, there is little information available on hydrocarbon generation from carboxylic acid salts.

Ionizable Lipid‐Dependent Optimization of Steroid Lipid Nanoparticles With Tunable Immunomodulatory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel engineering strategy that establishes material design principles for incorporating anti‐inflammatory steroids into lipid nanoparticles to reduce LNP‐induced inflammation while retaining mRNA delivery. Results are validated in vitro and in three animal models of inflammation and autoimmunity in vivo.

1-D modelling of hydrocarbon generation in baltic syneclise. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The main hydrocarbon sources of Baltic syneclise are related to Cambrian sandstones. There are also hydrocarbon fields in Ordovician and Silurian carbonate rocks. First hydrocarbon modeling in Lithuanian started in XX century last decade.

Late-Stage Hydrocarbon Generation in Overmature Coal-Measure Source Rocks of the Southern Ordos Basin

open access: yesEnergies
The Permian Taiyuan and Shanxi Formations of the Upper Paleozoic in the Ordos Basin are the primary source rock sequences for tight sandstone gas. The core problem lies in the uncertainty surrounding the gas generation process at the overmature stage. To

A Study on Hydrocarbon Generation Capacity of Graptolite in Marine Hydrocarbon Source Rocks in Southern China

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2017
The common development of graptolite in marine shale of Southern China has a close relationship with the formation of marine shale gas, but whether graptolite has hydrocarbon generating ability of shale gas has not been directly confirmed by relevant ...

Asymmetric Lamellar Templating of the Perovskite/C60 Interface for Scalable Inverted Perovskite Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Asymmetric lamellar templating at the perovskite/C60 interface is achieved using a laterally polarized indole spacer. Surface anchoring and Ind–Ind assembly form a π‐rich lamellar interphase that supports uniform C60 contact formation, suppresses recombination, preserves electron extraction, and enables certified high‐efficiency cells and modules with ...

Exploring hydrocarbon-bearing shale formations with multi-component seismic technology and evaluating direct shear modes produced by vertical-force sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
textIt is essential to understand natural fracture systems embedded in shale-gas reservoirs and the stress fields that influence how induced fractures form in targeted shale units.

Hydrophobic MFI‐Type Zeolites via Alkali‐Cation‐Induced Defect Healing: Implications for Adsorbent and Catalyst Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Sub‐stoichiometric amounts of Na+ or K+ enhance defect healing during Silicalite‐1 (MFI) and TS‐1 calcination by promoting Si–O–Si annealing and healing framework vacancies. The resulting defect‐free zeolites are more hydrophobic and show improved butanol/water separation and improved activity and selectivity in the epoxidation of 1‐hexene, offering a ...

Tubular Carbonate Concretions from North Island, New Zealand: Evidence for Hydrocarbon Migration and the Subsurface Plumbing System of Cold Seeps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Among the cold seep research community, it is now appreciated that tubular carbonate concretions are important indicators of hydrocarbon migration in the subsurface.
