Polymer Molecular Interface Engineering—Enhanced Cu‐Based Catalysts for the CO2 Electroreduction Reaction

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
This review highlights polymer‐mediated interfacial engineering strategies for Cu‐based electrocatalysts toward enhanced CO2RR, including steering the electronic structure of Cu, enhancing CO2 adsorption and activation, regulating the reaction microenvironment, constructing a molecular protective layer, and stabilizing the key intermediate.

The Rich Chemistry of Ionized Methanol With Sulfur Dioxide: Pathways to Prebiotic and Elusive Species in Earth's Atmosphere and Space

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The reaction between the methanol radical cation and sulfur dioxide is remarkably fast and forms several ionic and neutral products (HOSOH+, CH2OSO+, CH2OH+, CH2O, H2O, HSO2). The chemistry goes beyond simple proton or hydrogen transfer, revealing a close interaction between the two species, relevant to atmospheric and astrochemical environments where ...

Mechanistic Insights Into Sustainable Catalytic Pyrolysis of Biomass‐Derived Ferulic Acid: The Role of Alumina Regeneration

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Surface‐bound ferulate phenolate complexes undergo styrene‐like polymerization on alumina, yielding a polymeric carbonaceous layer that progressively transforms into polyaromatic carbon domains with concomitant release of aromatic products, while parallel surface‐assisted decarboxylation produces 4‐vinylguaiacol. ABSTRACT A fundamental understanding of

Experimental methods in chemical engineering: Cyclic voltammetry—CV

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Cyclic voltammetry (CV) is a foundational electroanalytical technique for investigating redox behaviour and evaluating material performance across fields such as molecular electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, sensing, and energy storage. Despite its widespread use, a gap remains between formal electrochemical theory and the practical data ...
