Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Geochemical evaluation and hydrocarbon potential of the Garau Formation in the Jufair field in Abadan Plain, SW Iran [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم زمین خوارزمی
The Abadan Plain is one of the most prolific basins in southwestern Iran and a part of the Mesopotamian Basin. In recent years, exploring new hydrocarbon resources in the region and the occurrence of shared oil fields in this region necessitates ...

Measuring the potential activity of hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 1976
[14C]hydrocarbons were utilized as a means of estimating the hydrocarbon-degrading potential of bacteria in estuarine and marine environments. Evaporation of the hydrocarbons must be considered in estimates of oxidation. Amount of mineralization of [14C]hexadecane can be equated with the total number of petroleum-degrading bacteria and the percentage ...

Azaporphyrinoid‐Based Photo‐ and Electroactive Architectures for Advanced Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A long‐standing collaboration between the Torres and Guldi groups has yielded diverse azaporphyrinoid‐based donor‐acceptor nanohybrids with promising applications in solar energy conversion. This conspectus highlights key molecular platforms and structure‐function relationships that govern light and charge management, supporting the rational design of ...

Coarse-grained interaction potentials for polyaromatic hydrocarbons [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2006
Using Kohn-Sham (KS) density-functional theory, we have studied the interaction between various polyaromatic hydrocarbon molecules. The systems range from monocyclic benzene up to hexabenzocoronene (hbc). For several conventional exchange-correlation functionals total potential-energy curves of interaction of the π-π stacking hbc dimer are reported. It

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

An assessment of fluid flow and overpressure modelling m selected North Sea and Laramide basins [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The occurrence of overpressure observed in petroleum bearing basins must be understood in terms of generation and distribution in order to build up a fluid flow history.

One‐Dimensional Materials Supported in Two‐Dimensional Van der Waals Metal–Organic Frameworks with Optical Anisotropy Switching via Twist‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a molecular strategy to assemble one‐dimensional (1D) materials into two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystals of [FeX(pzX)(bpy)] (X = Cl, F) form anisotropic 2D layers that can be mechanically exfoliated into thin sheets.

Optimising the biopiling of weathered hydrocarbons within a risk management framework. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Thirty years of research into petroleum microbiology and bioremediation have bypassed an important observation – that many hydrocarbon contaminated sites posing potential risks to human health harbour weathered, ‘mid-distillate’ or heavy oils rather ...

Hydrocarbon Potential of Mediterranean Region

open access: yesEAGE Conference on Geology and Petroleum Geology of the Mediterranean and Circum-Mediterranean Basins, 2000
Mediterranean region comprises the littoral states of the Mediterranean Sea. Seen in a global framework, the hydrocarbon reserves and production of these countries are relevant. Their combined share of world production lies between 5 and 6%, of the world reserves at about 4%, resources between 2 and 4%, consumption is higher (see fig. 1).
