Biogenic nanopalladium based remediation of chlorinated hydrocarbons in marine environments.
Biogenic catalysts have been studied over the last 10 years in freshwater and soil environments, but neither their formation nor their application has been explored in marine ecosystems. The objective of this study was to develop a biogenic nanopalladium-

Chemical signatures of the Anthropocene in the Clyde Estuary, UK: sediment hosted Pb, 207/206 Pb, Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH), Polyaromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) and Polychlorinated Bipheny (PCB) pollution records [PDF]
The sediment concentrations of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHs), polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), Pb and 207/206Pb isotope ratios were measured in seven cores from the middle Clyde estuary (Scotland, UK) with an aim ...

This review gives a summary on the representative bioinspired single‐atomic‐site catalysts (SACs) and their applications in heterogeneous electrocatalysis and photocatalysis. The fundamentals of bioinspired design strategies are systematically discussed in the context of the first shell coordination, the second/long‐range coordination, and the outer ...

Removal of organochlorine pesticides from water using virgin and regenerated granular activated carbon [PDF]
Public water systems use granular activated carbon in order to eliminate pesticides. After saturation, the used activated carbon is regenerated and reused in order to reduce the costs of water production and minimize waste.

CO2‐Responsive Smart Wood Scaffold for Natural Organic Matter Removal without Secondary Pollution
A CO2‐responsive smart wood scaffold is developed for sustainable water purification, achieving efficient natural organic matter (NOM) removal and microbial disinfection without secondary pollution. The CO2‐responsive polymer coating undergoes protonation upon CO2 exposure, enabling strong cation−π interactions with NOM.

In vitro uptake and transfer of chlorinated hydrocarbons among human lipoproteins.
The uptake, distribution, and exchange of chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides (dieldrin and chlordecone) and biphenyls (2,4,5-2',4',5'-hexachlorobiphenyl and 3-chlorobiphenyl) among human lipoproteins was examined by fluorescence quenching, gel ...

This study introduces an approach for creating liquid‐like slippery surfaces (LLS) on various substrates. An epoxy‐silicon (EpSi) coating is applied, plasma‐activated, and immersed in an organosilane solution, forming siloxane chains. The resulting LLS exhibits ultra‐low ice adhesion, high transparency, self‐cleaning, and anti‐staining properties ...
