U‐Net‐Based Prediction of Cerebrospinal Fluid Distribution and Ventricular Reflux Grading

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 38, Issue 5, May 2025.
The results of the present study demonstrate the promise of deep learning‐based methods, in particular a modification of the U‐net, in predicting cerebrospinal fluid flow and ventricular reflux grading, which could assist in the diagnosis of several neurological conditions.

Sequential prenatal diagnosis of fetal skeletal dysplasia: A cohort study

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 860-874, May 2025.
Of the 147 SD fetuses, 58 cases with negative CMA results underwent WES, and 21 genes with pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants were detected in 21 cases, including FGFR3 (n = 11), COL1A1 (n = 2), COL1A2 (n = 1), RUNX2 (n = 1), COL2A1 (n = 1), LMX1B (n = 1), GLI3 (n = 1), DYNC2H1 (n = 1), ALPL (n = 1), and SHOX (n = 1).

Predicting the risk of treatment‐requiring retinopathy of prematurity in preterm infants in Greece. External validation of DIGIROP prognostic models

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 103, Issue 3, Page 272-280, May 2025.
Abstract Purpose To assess the predictive performance of DIGIROP‐v1.0 models in identifying treatment‐requiring ROP among infants undergoing ROP screening at a tertiary neonatal intensive care unit in Greece. Methods Retrospective cohort analysis of 640 consecutive screened preterm infants with gestational age (GA) 240/7 to 306/7 weeks and known ROP ...

Neuronal activity modulates the expression of secretagogin, a Ca2+ sensor protein, during mammalian forebrain development

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 241, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract Aim Because of their stable expression, some EF‐hand Ca2+‐binding proteins are broadly used as histochemical markers of neurons in the nervous system. Secretagogin is a member of “neuron‐specific” Ca2+‐sensor proteins, yet variations in its expression due, chiefly, to neuronal activity remain ambiguous.
