Initial Assessment of Salinity Tolerance in the Invasive Aquatic Weed Frogbit (Hydrocharis laevigata)

open access: yesWeed Research, Volume 65, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
ABSTRACT Frogbit (Hydrocharis laevigata) is an aquatic invasive species with a high capacity to disperse, which can lead to rapid colonisation and potential domination of the littoral zone of affected freshwater systems. Little is known about the tolerance of this species to saline waters, or whether it has the potential to impact estuaries or tidal ...

Comparative Genomics and Phylogenetic Analyses of Aquarius macrophyllus and Related Genera in Alismataceae Based on Plastome Data

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2025.
We sequenced the plastome of Aquarius macrophyllus and conducted a comparative analysis incorporating eight species from four related genera in Alismataceae. Phylogenetic analysis of Alismataceae elucidated that Alisma and Burnatia species were early diverged, followed by Hydrocleys and Limnocharis. The monophyly of Aquarius and its sister relationship

Comparing Cloud Mask Products for Seagrass Mapping Over Sentinel‐2 Imagery: Toward a First National Seagrass Map for Venezuela

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 2, Issue 2, June 2025.
Abstract Despite providing many valuable ecosystem services, seagrasses are a threatened habitat and their global distribution is not fully known. For example, Venezuela lacks a national seagrass map. An established regional mapping approach for seagrass exists for the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform, but requires a long time window to obtain ...

Wild Bee Assemblages and Pollination Networks of Managed Emergent Wetlands in Central New York, USA

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2025.
Wetlands are underrepresented in wild bee surveys yet we find they host a diversity of bee species and offer important late‐season floral resources. Wetland restoration and management for wildlife in the northeastern United States creates a matrix of freshwater wetland habitat that helps support the landscape's wild bee fauna.

Subspecies classification of Hydrilla verticillata (Hydrocharitaceae)

open access: yesJournal of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas, 2023
Hydrilla verticillata is a globally distributed aquatic plant and one of the most noxious aquatic weeds in the U.S.A. Phylogenetic evidence has shown that plants in different geographic regions are largely isolated, and there are morphological features that can distinguish the five major phylogenetic groups. Hydrilla plants in the U.S.A.
