Mechanochemical Hydrodeoxygenations

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry
In this work, a mechanochemical hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) was developed. Using silver triflate as catalyst and triethylsilane as reducing agent, 18 ketones and other substrates were hydrodeoxygenated in yields up to 92%.

Crystal-phase engineering of PdCu nanoalloys facilitates selective hydrodeoxygenation at room temperature

open access: yesThe Innovation, 2022
Selective hydrodeoxygenation of biomass-derived aromatic alcohols to value-added chemical or fuel is of great importance for sustainable biomass upgrading, and hydrodeoxygenation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5-dimethylfuran (DMF) is one of the ...

The Production of Green Diesel Rich Pentadecane (C15) from Catalytic Hydrodeoxygenation of Waste Cooking Oil using Ni/Al2O3-ZrO2 and Ni/SiO2-ZrO2

open access: yesBulletin of Chemical Reaction Engineering & Catalysis, 2022
Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is applied in fuel processing technology to convert bio-oils to green diesel with metal-based catalysts. The major challenges to this process are feedstock, catalyst preparation, and the production of oxygen-free diesel fuel.

Co-Solvent Assisted Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Algal Biomass and Biocrude Upgrading

open access: yesFuels, 2022
This study reports the hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of microalgae Spirulina platenesis in the presence of alcohol or formic acid co-solvents. HTL runs are performed in a 1.8-L batch reactor at 300 °C using an alcohol (methanol and ethanol) or formic ...

Heterogenization of Heteropolyacid with Metal-Based Alumina Supports for the Guaiacol Gas-Phase Hydrodeoxygenation

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Because of the global necessity to decrease CO2 emissions, biomass-based fuels have become an interesting option to explore; although, bio-oils need to be upgraded, for example, by catalytic hydrodeoxygenation (HDO), to reduce oxygen content.
