N2-promoted hydrodeoxygenation

Nature Catalysis, 2019
Because of the high strength of N≡N bonds, N2 is often employed as an inert gas. Now it has been shown that it can partly react to yield surface nitrogen species that facilitate C–O hydrogenolysis reactions on supported Ru catalysts.

Influence of sulphur level on hydrodeoxygenation

Applied Catalysis, 1989
The effect of catalyst sulphidation on hydrodeoxygenation was studied under pseudo-steady-state conditions in a continuous trickle-bed reactor at 523 K. Sulphur was added to the feed in the form of carbon disulphide. The catalyst used was a commercial CoO-MoO3/γ-Al2O3 hydrotreating catalyst which was presulphided at 523 or 623 K.

Aqueous-phase hydrodeoxygenation of bio-derived phenols to cycloalkanes

open access: yesJournal of Catalysis, 2011
The kinetics of the catalytic hydrodeoxygenation of phenol and substituted phenols has systematically been investigated on the dual-functional catalyst system Pd/C and H(3)PO(4) in order to better understand the elementary steps of the overall reaction ...

Hydrodeoxygenation of acetic acid in a microreactor

Chemical Engineering Science, 2012
Abstract Acetic acid was used as a model compound for pyrolysis oil in a hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) study. HDO of acetic acid was performed in a packed bed microreactor. The catalyst was reduced sulfided NiMo/Al2O3. The effects of state of aggregation of acetic acid, temperature, hydrogen partial pressure, liquid flow rate, reactor diameter, and ...

Chemistry of Catalytic Hydrodeoxygenation

Catalysis Reviews, 1983
Abstract Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) reactions occur simultaneously with hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and hydrodenitrogenation (HDN) during catalytic hydrotreatment of liquid fuels. Extensive research activities in the areas of HDS and HDN have been dictated by environmental concern to limit SO2 and NOX emissions.

Hydrodeoxygenation of dibenzofuran and related compounds

AIChE Journal, 1981
AbstractThe catalytic hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of dibenzofuran was examined on a presulfided NiMo/γAl2O3 catalyst. Based on the reaction intermediates identified in the present study a reaction network for the removal of oxygen from dibenzofuran has been established.

Hydrodeoxygenation of pyrolysis oil in a microreactor

Chemical Engineering Science, 2012
Abstract Use of a packed bed microreactor for the first stage hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of pyrolysis oil was investigated. The effects of various processing conditions such as temperature, hydrogen partial pressure, and residence time on Extent of HDO, hydrogen consumption, and space-time-consumption were investigated using reduced sulfided NiMo/Al 2 ...

Hydrodeoxygenation of benzophenone on Pd catalysts

Applied Catalysis A: General, 2005
Abstract Catalytic hydrogenation and hydrogenolysis of benzophenone in a liquid phase at the reaction temperature of 130 °C and pressure 6 MPa on supported palladium catalysts were investigated. A number of different supports including active carbon, alumina, Beta and ZSM-5 zeolites with different Si/Al ratios and MCM-41 was tested.

Nickel catalysts for the hydrodeoxygenation of biodiesel

Kinetics and Catalysis, 2010
A number of nickel and nickel-copper catalysts for the hydrodeoxygenation of fatty acid esters (biodiesel) were studied. The CeO2 and ZrO2 oxides and the CeO2-ZrO2 binary system were used as supports. The Ni-Cu/CeO2-ZrO2 catalyst exhibited the highest activity; it allowed us to quantitatively convert biodiesel into linear alkanes under mild conditions (

Hydrodeoxygenation of Anisole with Pt Catalysts

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2017
Pt catalysts supported on neutral and acid materials, namely SiO2, γ-Al2O3, Na-Beta, and NaH-Beta, were studied in the anisole deoxygenation reaction. The main objective was to compare different supports for this reaction and determine the conditions that maximize the selectivity to deoxygenated products.
