Design functions for hydrodynamic bearings
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology, 2001Designing hydrodynamic bearings usually requires a total numerical analysis of the pressure distribution and corresponding design quantities such as the load capacity, load position, oil flowrate, power loss, coefficient of friction and relative power loss.

The Hydrodynamics of a Plug Bearing
Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1976The notion of a “plug” bearing taken up in this work refers to bodies moving within tight circular conduits. Our interest lies in the hydrodynamic film generated in the narrow interspace between body and wall under conditions of an incompressible fluid and unequal boundary pressures.

Bio-Lubricants for Hydrodynamic Bearings
Journal of Bio- and Tribo-Corrosion, 2020Various endeavors have been made to diminish rubbing coefficients and wear rates of greases by improving their tribological properties. One of the techniques used to change the properties is by adding nanoparticles to the ointments. The expansion of nanoparticles on economically accessible grease widely constructs the thickness of ointments, in like ...

Optimum design of hydrodynamic journal bearings
Tribology, 1969This paper presents an automated system for the selection of the length, clearance, and lubricant viscosity which optimize the performance of a hydrodynamic journal bearing, under specified values or ranges of load and speed. The study illustrates the feasibility of applying optimal programming techniques for the development of bearing design systems.
