Degradation of chitosan by hydrodynamic cavitation
Polymer Degradation and Stability, 2013Abstract A novel method of degradation of chitosan, by hydrodynamic cavitation using an orifice plate, was investigated. The effects of initial concentration, solution pH, upstream pressure and geometry of the orifice plate on the degradation of chitosan were evaluated.

Chemistry Induced by Hydrodynamic Cavitation
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1997Cavitation (the formation, growth, and implosive collapse of gas or vapor-filled bubbles in liquids) can have substantial chemical and physical effects. While the chemical effects of acoustic cavitation (i.e., sonochemistry and sonoluminescence) have been extensively investigated during recent years,1-5 little is known about the chemical consequences ...

Design of a hydrodynamic cavitating reactor
Chemical Engineering and Processing: Process Intensification, 2017Abstract In the present work, a computational fluid dynamic simulation has been performed to investigate hydrodynamic cavitation in sudden contraction. Hydrodynamic cavition of water, ethyl alcohol and fuel oil have been simulated using commercial CFD soft ware package ANSYS FLUENT 16.A satisfactory match between the simulated data and experimental ...

Hydrodynamics and Cavitation of Pumps
2007This paper summarizes a set of lectures given on the hydrodynamics and cavitation of pumps presented at CISM in July, 2005. The lectures are based on my book entitled “Hydrodynamics of Pumps” (Brennen 1994) published jointly by Concepts ETI and Oxford University Press and available on the internet at http://caltechbook.library.caltech.edu/22/01/pumps ...

The Mechanism of Cavitation in Hydrodynamic Lubrication
Tribology Transactions, 1991The paper offers a conceptual visualization of the mechanism of cavitation in the light of available experimental evidence. The experiments span steady, starved, and dynamic or transient lubrication and the resulting cavitation is postulated in terms of several basic parameters.

Studies of hydrodynamic cavitation in electrochemistry [PDF]
The project involves the study of hydrodynamic cavitation induced by flowing solution through a venturi at high linear flow velocities in the range 3 to 31 m s'\ Visual observation and recording of the noise was used to show that cavitation commenced at linear flow velocities of 18.5 m s'^ and 25.0 m s"' for 1 mm and 2 mm diameter Venturis ...
