Hydrodynamic characteristics of UASB bioreactors.

Journal of environmental science & engineering, 2013
The hydrodynamic characteristics of UASB bioreactors operated under different organic loading and hydraulic loading rates were studied, using three laboratory scale models treating concocted sucrose wastewater. Residence time distribution (RTD) analysis using dispersion model and tanks-in-series model was directed towards the characterization of the ...

Hydrodynamic characteristics of a butterfly valve — Prediction of torque characteristics

ISA Transactions, 1995
Abstract This study has focused on the prediction of torque characteristics of butterfly valves and we propose a prediction equation derived from theoretical investigation and experimental results. The free-streamline theory is applied to the prediction of the torque characteristics because the flow separation was confirmed on the rear surface by ...

Hydrodynamic Characteristics Experiment of Vegetation Flexible Dam

2012
By the indoor flume model experiment, the paper analyzed systematically the influence of three different base slopes of vegetation "flexible dam" to the water flow under the cross layout. The experiment showed that the base slopes is more big after planting trees, the discharge is more loudly unknown to the reflection on backwater.

Hydrodynamic Characteristics Analysis of Expendable BathyThermograph Probe

2014
In this paperthe authors use numerical simulation method to analyze the flow field distribution around the XBT probe and study the impact of hydrodynamic characteristics on the underwater posture stability. The analysis shows that the streamlined structure design of probe can effectively reduce the resistance of the probe in water and can maintain the ...

Study on hydrodynamic characteristics of splitter cascade

2014 ISFMFE - 6th International Symposium on Fluid Machinery and Fluid Engineering, 2014
In order to realize the miniaturization of water jet axial-flow pump, the project selected splitter cascade based on NACA4412 hydrofoil to explore the feasibility of splitter cascade in water axial-flow pump. The project involved an extensive numerical study of 2-D geometries, and the flow field was determined by solving two-dimensional incompressible ...

Numerical Study on Hydrodynamic Characteristics

2017
This chapter presents a dynamic analysis of a two-raft wave-powered desalination device based on the three-dimensional wave radiation-diffraction method. The device consists of two hinged cylindrical rafts of elliptical cross section and a Power Take-Off (PTO) system at the joint, which is used to represent a simplified desalination module of the ...

The characteristics of hydrodynamic pumps

1998
The design of pumps based on hydrodynamic fluid flow is proposed. In comparison to the frequently used gear pumps, hydrodynamic pumps are simple and cheap devices characterised with fluctuation-less delivery. Since the ratio of dimensions of hydrodynamic pumps seriously influence its efficiency, the proposed design is based on criteria of minimal ...

Study on hydrodynamic characteristics of multiple fish based on smoothed particle hydrodynamics

Physics of Fluids
In this paper, the effect of spatial configurations and quantities of fish school on the hydrodynamic characteristics of fish is numerically investigated by smoothed particle hydrodynamics, revealing the hydrodynamic mechanism of the fish school in terms of shedding vortices and channel effects.

Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Tapered Arterial Prostheses

1989
The use of arterial prostheses with tapered lumen has important advantages over those with a uniform lumen. The flow is less likely to become turbulent, a better match in size can be achieved and the wall shear stresses are also expected to be higher.
