Effects of Breccias and Round Gravels on Steep Cut Slope Runoff and Sediment Yield Under Simulated Rainfall

open access: yesShuitu baochi tongbao, 2023
[Objective] The effects of breccias and round gravels on steep cut slope infiltration, runoff, sediment yield, and hydrodynamic characteristics were analyzed in order to provide a theoretical basis for a soil erosion prediction model and soil ...

The study of hydrodynamic characteristic of bivalves

open access: yesPROCEEDINGS OF CIVIL ENGINEERING IN THE OCEAN, 1997
For bivalves under sand (surf clam (Pseudocardium sybillae), sunray surf clam (Mactra chinensis carneopicta pilsbry) and great northern tellin (Peronidia venulosa)) and the bivalve on sand (scallop (Patinopecten yessoensins)), form factors (e. g., projective area and volume), drag coefficient, lift coefficient and added mass coefficient were measured ...

Hydrodynamic Calculation and Analysis of a Complex-Shaped ROV Moving near the Wall Based on CFDs

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) face challenges in maneuvering and rapidly detecting and repairing large offshore platforms. The accurate research on the hydrodynamics of the ROV, which moves close to the wall, is of great significance for its ...

Influence of Flanks on Resistance Performance of High-Speed Amphibious Vehicle

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
In order to reduce the additional resistance of high-speed amphibious vehicles, Flanks are designed on the concave grooves. As a new drag reduction attachment, the principle of Flanks is analyzed and discussed in detail. In this paper, the HSAV model and

Water-jet Propulsion Characteristics of Vehicle Planing

open access: yes水下无人系统学报, 2023
This study employed the shear stress transport(SST) k-ω turbulence model, multiple reference frame(MRF) model, and ideal pump model to construct a numerical simulation model of water-jet propulsion for vehicle planing.

Resolved CFD-DEM Simulation of Free Settling of Polyhedral Particles with Various Orientations: Insights Provided by Oscillation Behavior in Quiescent Liquid

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Particle settling is the process by which particulates move toward the bottom of a liquid, which can affect the sediment transport and energy balance of marine systems.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Structural and biochemical insights into the thermostable esterase Ta0887 from Thermoplasma acidophilum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel esterase from the thermoacidophilic archaeon Thermoplasma acidophilum was biochemically and structurally characterized. Our results demonstrate that Ta0887 is a highly thermostable esterase that preferentially hydrolyzes p‐nitrophenyl hexanoate and possesses an α‐helical cap domain that likely contributes to its substrate ...
