Hydrodynamical connectivity in a small and deep tropical lake, a numerical study

open access: yesGeofísica Internacional
The hydrodynamical connectivity of Lake Zirahuén was analyzed for the stratification (summer) and isothermal (winter) periods, in which the dispersion of passive particles was investigated for two hypothetical cases: i) a surface dispersion and ii) a deep resuspension, processes.

Microglia‐Targeted Biomimetic Tetrahedral Framework Nucleic Acid Nanovesicles for Synergistic Treatment of Sepsis‐Associated Encephalopathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sepsis‐associated encephalopathy (SAE) lacks effective therapies. We developed ME@FDsi, a biomimetic nanodrug using a tetrahedral framework nucleic acid to deliver disulfiram and siTNFα. It crosses the blood‐brain barrier, targets M1 microglia, inhibits pyroptosis and inflammation, and scavenges ROS.

A Computational Strategy for Identifying Self‐Assembling Food‐Derived Molecules for Antiparasitic Nanotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated computational screening strategy identified ursolic acid (UA) and 18β‐glycyrrhetinic acid (18βGA) as a self‐assembling food‐derived molecular pair. The resulting carrier‐free nanoparticles (UA‐18βGA) showed synergistic antiparasitic activity, reduced combined toxicity, and host‐protective anti‐inflammatory effects in zebrafish and murine ...

On the hydrodynamic model for semiconductors and the relaxation to the drift-diffusion equation

open access: yes, 1996
In this paper, the authors establish a connection between a unipolar hydrodynamic isentropic Euler-Poisson system and the (unipolar) drift-diffusion equations for semiconductors and prove that the scaled sequence of a weak solution to the Euler-Poisson ...

Harnessing Phase Separation for the Development of High‐Performance Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels are indispensable for the development of next‐generation bioelectronics, soft robotics, and biomedical devices, where their mechanical properties determine performance and reliability. Among strategies to enhance hydrogel mechanics, phase separation enables controlled heterogeneity resulting in gel networks that are reinforced by ...

Modeling The Influence Of Hydrodynamic Processes On Anchovy Distribution And Connectivity In The Black Sea

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 2014
Dispersal mechanisms of Black Sea anchovy larvae (Engraulis encrasicolus ponticus) across the Black Sea were studied with an individual based anchovy larvae model embedded in a Lagrangian model using surface currents calculated from daily dynamic height topography maps of altimeter data during a period of three years (2001-2003). Particles representing

Hydrodynamic Modelling of Wave Power using Electrical Equivalent Circuit Theory

open access: yes, 2014
Ocean wave energy can be harnessed and converted into electric energy nowadays. This provides a possibility for populations that live on islands or along coastlines to utilize the renewable and safe power produced by ocean waves.

Multiscale Architecture and Mechanics of the Cell Nucleus: Implications for Disease, Bioengineering and Nanomedicine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nuclear mechanical properties are inherently scale‐dependent, arising from a hierarchical architecture that spans DNA, chromatin, the nuclear envelope, and condensates. Experimental techniques and theoretical models are integrated into a cohesive multiscale framework linking nanoscale structural features to organelle‐level mechanical behavior.
