A concentric hydrodynamic journal bearing with the boundary slippage
The paper proposes a concentric hydrodynamic journal bearing constructed by the boundary slippage, which is opposed by conventional lubrication theory. Analysis for the carried load and friction coefficient of this bearing is presented. The optimum condition for the maximum load-carrying capacity of this bearing is examined.

Floods From Space: How Remote Sensing, AI, and Cloud Platforms Are Reshaping Disaster Risk Reduction
ABSTRACT Flooding remains one of the most damaging climate‐related hazards globally, yet flood remote sensing has historically developed largely along sensor‐specific pathways. This review addresses the need for a systematic and decision‐oriented synthesis of how space‐borne remote sensing has evolved toward integrated flood monitoring and disaster ...

Numerical Analysis of a Hydrodynamic Herringbone Grooved Journal Bearing
In hydrodynamic lubrication, at very high rotational speed, the phenomenon of axial fluid leakage is often present. This can involve an increase of shear stress in the contact and consequently a considerable increase of the temperature.

Assessment of polymer composites for hydrodynamic journal‐bearing applications
AbstractPolymer composites are used as facing materials in hydrodynamic bearings for their low friction and ‘compliant’ properties, which play an important role during machinery operation. In journal bearings, this low friction property can be of significant importance during start and stop cycles when insufficient oil is available to fully separate ...

Deep Mutational Scanning for the Study and Engineering of Protein Assemblies
This review explores how deep mutational scanning (DMS) can be used to improve understanding and accelerate engineering of protein assemblies, from natural fibers to engineered nanocages. We discuss various types of protein assemblies and their characterization, provide an introduction to the DMS technique, and then highlight examples in which DMS has ...

ABSTRACT Porous gas bearings (PGBs) enable high‐speed, oil‐free operation in modern rotating machinery. This study develops a coupled thermo‐hydrodynamic (THD) model for a cylindrical porous gas bearing lubricated with four working fluids—air, R‐134a, helium and hydrogen.
