Hydrodynamic Impact Response, A Flexible View

FAST 2001, 2001
The popularity of high-speed craft is steadily increasing. Until now, much attention has been focussed on the hydrodynamic aspects of these craft. The structural design of these vessels is usually considered in a quasi static sense. However, due to the requirement of light ship structures, fast ship tend to be flexible.

Dynamic response and hydrodynamics of polarized crowds

Science, 2019
A crowd that flows like water The behavior of large numbers of insects, animals, and other flocks is often based on rules about individual interactions. Bain and Bartolo applied a fluid-like model to the behavior of marathon runners as they walked up to the start line of the Chicago Marathon (see the Perspective by Ouellette).

Hydrodynamic Response of Spar with Disc

Offshore Technology Conference-Asia, 2014
Description of the Proposed Paper: The scope is to study the hydrodynamic response of the spar (39m diameter and 198.1m draft) using WAMIT. The analytical expression proposed by Tao et al., is used to estimate the viscous damping for the spar with the disc at the bottom. The disc increases the added mass and damping.

Hydrodynamic Responses Analysis for Tension Leg

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
It is very important to do hydrodynamic analysis for TLP in its basic design process. This thesis studied the hydrodynamic behavior of a traditional TLP. DNV/SESAM software was used to do the modeling and calculating work. Totally three models were built, including panel model, mass model and structure model.

Hydrodynamic Effects in Earthquake Response of Gravity Dams

Journal of the Structural Division, 1974
The frequency response functions with or without hydrodynamic interaction, including or neglecting compressibility of water, and numerical results for the increase in periods of vibration of the dam due to water in the reservoir are presented. Also presented are responses of a typical concrete gravity dam, Pine Flat Dam, to Koyna 1967 and Taft 1952 ...

Response of aggregate structures to hydrodynamic stress

AIChE Journal, 1991
Experimental procedures have been developed for investigation of floc breakage occuring in response to the hydrodynamic stress. Aggregates initially restrained by a stainless steel mesh were exposed to downward-directed flow, and the subsequent events including deformation and breakage severity were observed.

Hydrodynamic response of a pneumatic floating platform

Ocean Engineering, 2000
This paper describes a numerical approach to model the dynamic response of a pneumatic floating platform, and the laboratory experiments and parametric study to verify the numerical results. The pneumatic platform is composed of an array of open-bottom vertical cylinders trapping pressurized air that displaces the water.

The non-linear response of hydrodynamic seals

Wear, 1982
The response of a hydrodynamic seal to a specified initial disturbance or to an external excitation that is due to half-speed circular whirl of the rotor was investigated by numerically integrating the linearized and the non-linear equations of disturbed motion for lateral oscillations of the seal.

Compliant Tower Hydrodynamic Loading and Response Measurements

Offshore Technology Conference, 1990
ABSTRACT Laboratory data collected from tests with models of the Compliant Piled Tower (CPT) and the Lena guyed tower are compared to analytical predictions for forces, motions, and near field cinematic velocities.

Morphological and biomechanical response to eutrophication and hydrodynamic stresses

Science of The Total Environment, 2018
Eutrophication and hydrodynamics determine the final distribution patterns of aquatic macrophytes; however, there is limited available knowledge regarding their interactive effects. Morphological and biomechanical responses to eutrophication and hydrodynamic stresses were assessed by sampling five abundant and dominant species, Potamogeton maackianus ...
