Hydrodynamic Impact Response, A Flexible View [PDF]

open access: yesFAST 2001, 2001
The popularity of high-speed craft is steadily increasing. Until now, much attention has been focussed on the hydrodynamic aspects of these craft. The structural design of these vessels is usually considered in a quasi static sense. However, due to the requirement of light ship structures, fast ship tend to be flexible.

2D hydrodynamic approach supporting evaluations of hydrological response in small watersheds: Implications for lag time estimation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology, 2022
The use of integrated flood models represents an approach of growing interest in the literature, being the hydrological and hydrodynamic flood processes described entirely within the two-dimensional (2D) hydrodynamic unsteady flow equations.

Comparison of Hydrodynamic Models for the Electromagnetic Nonlocal Response of Nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, 2018
Since deep nanoscale systems are increasingly studied, accurate macroscopic theories dealing with quantum mechanical effects are in high demand. Concerning the electromagnetic response of nanoplasmonic systems, several hydrodynamic models have been ...

Dynamic response and hydrodynamics of polarized crowds

Science, 2019
A crowd that flows like water The behavior of large numbers of insects, animals, and other flocks is often based on rules about individual interactions. Bain and Bartolo applied a fluid-like model to the behavior of marathon runners as they walked up to the start line of the Chicago Marathon (see the Perspective by Ouellette).

Hydrodynamic response of adsorbed polymers

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 1994
Abstract We consider the hydrodynamics of an assembly consisting of monodisperse ring polymers each attached by one point to a surface. (This might model A-B-A triblock copolymers with two anchoring A blocks.) The polymers are assumed to be gaussian and to obey Zimm dynamics; this is appropriate for coverages at or below the overlap threshold, i.e ...

Hydrodynamic Effects in Earthquake Response of Gravity Dams

Journal of the Structural Division, 1974
The frequency response functions with or without hydrodynamic interaction, including or neglecting compressibility of water, and numerical results for the increase in periods of vibration of the dam due to water in the reservoir are presented. Also presented are responses of a typical concrete gravity dam, Pine Flat Dam, to Koyna 1967 and Taft 1952 ...

Hydrodynamic Response of Spar with Disc

Offshore Technology Conference-Asia, 2014
Description of the Proposed Paper: The scope is to study the hydrodynamic response of the spar (39m diameter and 198.1m draft) using WAMIT. The analytical expression proposed by Tao et al., is used to estimate the viscous damping for the spar with the disc at the bottom. The disc increases the added mass and damping.

Morphological and biomechanical response to eutrophication and hydrodynamic stresses

Science of The Total Environment, 2018
Eutrophication and hydrodynamics determine the final distribution patterns of aquatic macrophytes; however, there is limited available knowledge regarding their interactive effects. Morphological and biomechanical responses to eutrophication and hydrodynamic stresses were assessed by sampling five abundant and dominant species, Potamogeton maackianus ...

The effect of the hydrodynamic modelling on the response of a T.L.P.

International Shipbuilding Progress, 1986
A parametric study is conducted to investigate the influence of some of the nonlinear effects produced by the variable submergence and the methods used for calculating hydro-dynamic forces, on the dynamic response of Tension Leg Platforms. The nonlinear effects included in the study are the variable added mass and the tension fluctuation in the tethers
