Forming the Moon from terrestrial silicate-rich material [PDF]
Recent high-precision measurements of the isotopic composition of lunar rocks demonstrate that the bulk silicate Earth and the Moon show an unexpectedly high degree of similarity.

Probing the formation of intermediate- to high-mass stars in protoclusters II. Comparison between millimeter interferometric observations of NGC 2264-C and SPH simulations of a collapsing clump [PDF]
The earliest phases of massive star formation in clusters are still poorly understood. Here, we test the hypothesis for high-mass star formation proposed in our earlier paper (Peretto et al. 2006).

Formation and Characterization of Inkjet-Printed Nanosilver Lines on Plasma-Treated Glass Substrates
In this study, we investigated geometrical characteristics of the inkjet-printed lines with non-zero receding contact angle (CA) on plasma-treated substrates in terms of various printing variables and analyzed the fluidic behavior and hydrodynamic ...

This paper theoretically analyzes the hydrodynamic shape stability problem for sonoluminescing bubbles. We present a semianalytical approach to describe the evolution of shape perturbations in the strongly nonlinear regime of violent collapse.

Emulsions stabilised by whey protein microgel particles: Towards food-grade Pickering emulsions [PDF]
We have investigated a new class of food-grade particles, whey protein microgels, as stabilisers of triglyceride-water emulsions. The sub-micron particles stabilized oil-in-water emulsions at all pH with and without salt.

3D Hydrodynamic Simulations of the Galactic Supernova Remnant CTB 109
Using detailed 3D hydrodynamic simulations we study the nature of the Galactic supernova remnant (SNR) CTB 109 (G109.1-1.0), which is well-known for its semicircular shape and a bright diffuse X-ray emission feature inside the SNR.

Biosensing System for Concentration Quantification of Magnetically Labeled E. coli in Water Samples
Bacterial contamination of water sources (e.g., lakes, rivers and springs) from waterborne bacteria is a crucial water safety issue and its prevention is of the utmost significance since it threatens the health and well-being of wildlife, livestock, and ...

Identification of Local Lubrication Regimes on Textured Surfaces by 3D Roughness Curvature Radius [PDF]
This paper proposes a new method of 3D roughness peaks curvature radius calculation and its application to tribological contact analysis as a characteristic signature of tribological contact.

In this contribution, we present the results of the application of a parameter space reduction methodology based on active subspaces to the hull hydrodynamic design problem. Several parametric deformations of an initial hull shape are considered to assess the influence of the shape parameters considered on the hull total drag.
