Role of hydrodynamic flows in chemically driven droplet division

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We study the hydrodynamics and shape changes of chemically active droplets. In non-spherical droplets, surface tension generates hydrodynamic flows that drive liquid droplets into a spherical shape.

Visualizing Enhanced Microfluidic Electromembrane Desalination Using Nafion-Coated Heterogeneous Ion-Exchange Membranes [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules
Heterogeneous ion-exchange membranes (IEMs) are cost-effective but suffer from low electrochemical efficiency due to surface inhomogeneities. While surface coating with homogeneous ionomers is a known modification strategy, its direct impact on electro ...

Hydrodynamic surfaces with midsection in the form of Lame curve

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Engineering Research, 2021
General representation of ship geometry is given by the method of slicing the ship hull by three mutually perpendicular planes: vertical symmetry plane which runs along the middle of hull width, horizontal plane which divides the hull into underwater and

Generating hydrodynamic surfaces by families of Lame curves for modelling submarine hulls

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Engineering Research, 2022
This paper investigates the construction of hydrodynamic surfaces, which are defined by algebraic equations and describe the theoretical hull of a vessel. A technique for automation of generating hydrodynamic surfaces is proposed.

Analytical surfaces for ship hulls

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Engineering Research, 2021
The choice of optimal shape of ship hull surface is one of the main problems of ship architects and designs. A choice of the form is based on empirical formulae or on intuition of designers.

Comparisons between seabed and free surface effects on underwater vehicle hydrodynamics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2022
This paper presents a numerical study on the hydrodynamic coefficients of the DARPA SUBOFF hull when deeply submerged and near the seabed. The CFD-based model was validated with experimental data, namely experiments involving the SUBOFF and BB2 ...

On the behavior of nonlinear hydrodynamic coefficients of a submerged cylinder beneath the water surface

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Mechanics, 2021
This study aims at numerically exploring the behavior of flow fields and nonlinear hydrodynamic coefficients of a horizontal cylinder beneath the free surface flow considering the effects of nonlinear surface waves and various cylinder shapes.

Roughness Effects of Textured Surfaces in Hydrodynamic Lubrication

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2022
Several studies have been conducted to improve and model the lubricated contact between surfaces. The main subjects were defining the hydrodynamic parameters to reduce energy losses and protect the environment.
