Quantum hydrodynamics

open access: yes, 2012
Quantum hydrodynamics in superfluid helium and atomic Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) has been recently one of the most important topics in low temperature physics.

Durability of a Drag Reducing Solution

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2008
Effectiveness of drag reduction by small addition of a surfactant in the turbulent flow of water depends on the structure and concentration of the additive, temperature of the solution and turbulence intensity, possible flow disturbance by a mechanical ...

Kinetic description of mixtures of anisotropic fluids

open access: yes, 2014
A simple system of coupled kinetic equations for quark and gluon anisotropic systems is solved numerically. The solutions are compared with the predictions of the anisotropic hydrodynamics describing a mixture of anisotropic fluids.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Conformal Field Theory as Microscopic Dynamics of Incompressible Euler and Navier-Stokes Equations

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the hydrodynamics of relativistic conformal field theories at finite temperature. We show that the limit of slow motions of the ideal hydrodynamics leads to the non-relativistic incompressible Euler equation. For viscous hydrodynamics we show

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Non-linear water waves generated by impulsive motion of submerged obstacles [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2014
A fully non-linear problem on unsteady water waves generated by an impulsively moving obstacle is studied analytically. Our method involves reduction of the Euler equations to the integral-differential system for the wave elevation together with normal ...

Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Stereo Particle Image Velocimetry Measurement of the Flow around SUBOFF Submarine under Yaw Conditions

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
To gain a better understanding of the complex flow dynamics and stealth characteristics of submarines under maneuvering conditions, flow field experiments were conducted on the SUBOFF submarine model in the large low-speed wind tunnel at the China Ship ...

Using stability analysis of discrete elastic systems to study the buckling of nanostructures

open access: yesArchives of Mechanics, 2012
Stubility/instability criteria of discrete elastic systems are used to study the buckling of nanostructures. The deformation of nanostructures is simulated by solving the nonlinear equations of molecular mechanics.
