Optimizing Water Flow With Cavitation on the NACA 0009 Hydrofoil Inspired by the Mako Shark Bumps

open access: yesInternational Journal of Aerospace Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The numerical investigation of the water flow with partial cavitation around the NACA 0009 hydrofoil with bumps inspired by the mako shark (biomimicry) was performed. The simulation was done by ANSYS Fluent software for cavitation numbers of 1 and 1.5 at flow speeds of 5 and 10 m/s and various angles of attack from 4° to 12°.

The optimum shape of an hydrofoil with no cavitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
We consider a two-dimensional hydrofoil at rest in the (xy)-plane embedded in a steam with a uniform flow at infinity and we pose the problem of finding the optimum shape of the hydrofoil of a given length and prescribed mean curvature for which the lift

Hydrofoil fixture load analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The purpose of this thesis is to quantify the fixture loads of a hydrofoil structure. A fixture is a device that transfers a load between a mast and a hull of a hydrofoil. These loads are dependent on the vessels operational modes, (i) accelerating, (ii)
